What Is The Best Color For A Metal Roof?
How Can A Metal Roofing Color Visualizer Help You?
The color of your metal roof should complement the architectural features of your house. It should blend in and make a statement, but not look out of place. It's important to choose wisely because once your roof is installed changing the color is not an option.
Metal roofing color simulators will allow you to experiment with different color combinations. You will see exactly how the colors and architectural features of your house interact with each other. It's an excellent tool that will help you pick the best metal roofing color for your house.
Tips For Choosing A Metal Roofing Color
- Start with the color of your stucco and look at our color charts.
- Select the different color categories from the drop down menu. Briefly glance at the available colors within each category. We have colors that you will not find anywhere else and you may discover a color that you wouldn't have considered otherwise.
- When you have a general idea of the colors that you like, open the metal roofing color visualizer. Select your stucco color and some of your selections from the metal roofing color charts. You can even view 3D images of these colors.
- Narrow down your selections to your top 3. Request free metal samples of those colors.
- Compare the metal samples to the stucco color and the main architectural features of the property.
- Look at the samples in different lighting conditions. The colors will look different when viewed inside versus outside on a sunny day.
Relying on a color chart alone provides you with an incomplete idea of how these colors will look on your home. Online color charts are never accurate and monitor settings vary. Following the process above will give you an excellent idea of which metal roofing color will look best on your house.

PVDF & SMP Paint Coatings
Painted Metal Roofing In Two Types Of Paint Systems
Deciding between PVDF panels or SMP panels for your new metal roof? We’re here to help. As a manufacturer of panels with both types of paint systems, we are often asked which is better. We want you to be able to choose which panels will make the most sense for you.
PVDF panels are seen in the industry as being superior to SMP panels in both quality and performance. However, PVDF painted panels cost significantly more than SMP. The biggest decision between these two panels comes down to compromises between price and performance.
If you're struggling to make a decision, we recommend reading Best Paint For My Metal Roof Panels: SMP Paint vs. Kynar®
PVDF - Standard Colors
PVDF is our highest quality paint coating. Metal roofing that has a PVDF finish will have excellent resistance to sunlight exposure and will fade at a slower rate than other paint finishes.

PVDF (Special Order)
If you don't find what you're looking for with our 20 standard PVDF colors then we also offer special ordered colors. These 14 colors are not in stock. They are supplied on a job by job basis. These colors cost more and have a longer lead time.

SMP Paint Finish
SMP painted metal panels are less expensive than PVDF and are available in lighter gauges. They have less resistance to UV exposure and will fade at a greater rate. SMP makes the most sense on lighter colors or when cost savings is the top priority.

Matte Finishes Have Less Reflectivity And Soften A Dark Color
Matte Finishes And Dark Colors
Matte finishes are flat colors that have less of a glare than your standard metal roofing colors. Matte colors have a warm, inviting look that is elegant and not as intense as a glossy finish. A matte finish can be useful when working with black because it can soften the sometimes harsh appearance that black or other dark colors might give off.A glossy black will give off a more dramatic, intense appearance than a matte black. You should choose this finish type if you want a roof with a shiny appearance. Consider the aesthetic you’re looking to achieve when choosing which type of black finish to use.
Matte Colors
The latest trend in architecture is the use of matte colors for your house or commercial project. Matte colors have a warm, inviting look that is elegant and not as intense as a glossy finish.
