I've heard that in 1.14, villagers will restock twice a day.
But is it twice a Minecraft day? Or as I expect twice a 24h day?
Rollback Post to Revision RollBackLast information I saw was that villager trades refresh at specific tick numbers during the MC day.
Rollback Post to Revision RollBack "Why does everything have to be so stoopid?" Harvey Pekar (from American Splendor) WARNING: I have an extemely "grindy" playstyle; YMMV — if this doesn't seem fun to you, mine what you can from it & bin the rest.Confirmed, they restock twice in a minecraft day. But thats depending if they make it to their profession table within those specified game ticks.
Rollback Post to Revision RollBackIf you have the villagers tucked away in little holes or on soul sand, in 1.13 and you try to add a profession table in there with them, what's the right way to go about it?
Does each table have an "owner" and only that "owner" can use it? So in a larger trading hall, where you already have villagers with jobs, but no profession table to associate with, how will all that pan out? My experiments have so far not turned out well, but I do know the top of the table must be free.
If they're standing on soul sand, does it mean they can't access to top of the table?
I put 3 of the same table around one villager (a farmer) and that seemed to finally do the trick. Only one didn't seem to work on them. Maybe direction of the profession table in relation to the 1 block spot the villager is in, is meaningful?
Rollback Post to Revision RollBackEach villager has one work station they will be assigned to (when they chose a profession). They will restock when interacting with it. In order for them to restock properly you will need to make sure they get back to their specific one. Trapping the in front of it should work, just make sure you match them up right.
Along with needing their station its important they can chat with other villagers to fulfill their new strange needs.

Rollback Post to Revision RollBackIt's an old question but precisely join one of my current issue.
Do you know if "not chatting" may prevent villagers from re-stocking? Or it's only to reduce/raise prices?
Rollback Post to Revision RollBackFrom the Wiki it seems like it's necessary for iron golem spawning, the villagers need to "gossip" about the need for a golem.
I couldn't say if it also is required for trading or not, I would guess not.
Rollback Post to Revision RollBackJust testing.
It looks like that they need to chat to work on their job sites. Or something like this, thats what happened to me.
I had a trading hall in 1.13, whre villagers were standing in pens, divided by a wall 1 block thick, trapped in minecarts. In 1.14 I freed them from minecarts, changed walls to fences, so I could jump to them with a beacon of leaping, but they could not run out and added extra 1 free spot behind their backs where I placed their corresponding crafting stations. But they never used these stations, maybe except some clerics from 1.13. Then I gave up on trading hall and decided to move it to the village itself, since I would be able to find them in certain places anyway. So I broke all the fences and suddenly they all started to work at their stations. I dont know what were the conditions, but maybe it will help someone to figure it out
Rollback Post to Revision RollBackOne thing I can now say is they do NOT need to chat to re-stock. I had two isolated villagers (one in the Nether) restock their trades.
I have more recently made this topic which may have some hints: https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-java-edition/discussion/2960812-why-is-this-villager-not-re-stocking
Also, you don't need jump beacon to jump fence, you can also do it cheaper by placing a piece of carpet on top of a fence and just walk on it. From a quick test I just made, it looks like villager cannot walk on it. And according to a video I saw, villager cannot walk on carpet at all.
Rollback Post to Revision RollBackThanks, I saw some odd carpets on fences in some videos, then thats what they are for. But I have my base covered with all the beacons anyway (leaping is very useful for building and all) and it looks better without carpets
Rollback Post to Revision RollBackThat's not really a free spot then.
Did they have more than 1 block to stand on?
I'm not sure about it but it's been claimed that they need at least 2 blocks space.
(Which they would have gotten when you removed the fences.)
Rollback Post to Revision RollBackJust testing.
I think that was the problem, I have already read about this in topic ttt20190108 linked here. This explanation fits perfectly in their behavior in my case, although it is some strange logic
So basically i need to drop working stations one block down so they can walk on them and thats it? It will be like 2 free tiles: one solid they are standing on now and another one being the surface of a crafting station
Rollback Post to Revision RollBackYes, they need one + the working station at their feet (not 2 + working station).
I'm still doing tests about the block above the working station about minecart and about the nether
Rollback Post to Revision RollBackHere is a summary of my tests so far:
(Some tests have been done in single player creative mode, some on a Spigot semi-vanilla multiplayer server)
Concerning trades and re-stocks: - workstation MUST be at the same floor as villager's feet - villager need 1 block for workstation + 1 block for walk (not 1 + 2) - villager does NOT need to be within 32 blocks of the player - block on top of workstation can be air, slab (according to video), or complete block (I tried with glass) - villager does NOT need to gossip/chat - villager does NOT need access to bed - villager can be in the Nether but so far experience showed that I need to be nearby, I guess that means the chunk must be loaded. - villager can be in minecart (but it seems like he only re-stocked depanding on the minecart position when I put the longest side of the minecart to be parallel to the workingstation, so that the village is the closest possible to the working station ... not 100% sure about this requirements - villager linked to a workstation in the Nether can forget it when sent to the Overworld (and reciprocally) - if villager doesn't seem to forget worstation when far enough, go away from him wait a bit, come back A villager in a minecart at level 5 links with a lectern place at level 52.
Misc: - villagers can gossip in diagonal (according to a video by "docm77" - villager can spawn golems even if they are further than 32 blocks away from player - villager can use bed in the nether accordingly to day/night cycle in the Overworld (I did /time set night while in the Nether), the bed doesn't explode - same with beds in the End
