10 Times Sasuke Didn't Deserve Redemption - CBR

Uchiha Sasuke is a complex individual. He went from dedicating his life to killing Uchiha Itachi, to then joining Akatsuki in order to avenge Itachi by destroying the Leaf Village. Eventually, he shocked every Naruto fan across the globe by professing that his new goal was to become the Hokage of Konoha, the same village he wanted to burn.

Although Sasuke has drastically changed his desired goals throughout the entire Naruto series, he has one consistent trait: he'll stop at nothing to get what he wants.

Sasuke commitment so many crimes with murderous intent that eventually he became an S-rank criminal. Despite this, he still managed to get the redemption that arguably, he never truly deserved.

10 When He Started A Fight With Naruto On The Hospital Rooftop

Sasuke ended up in hospital after a brief encounter with Itachi, who had returned to Konoha in order to kidnap Naruto. While recovering, Sasuke was plagued with memories of both echoes from his older brother's words, "you are weak because you don't have enough hate" and his growing resentment towards Naruto's progression in strength. Unable to control his emotions, Sasuke demanded Naruto fight him at the hospital immediately.

As the battle neared its end, Sasuke and Naruto were caught in a Rasengan/Chidori checkmate, but luckily Kakashi arrived just in time and diverted both of their attacks into water tanks. Shocked by the level of seriousness in Sasuke, Kakashi confronted him and asked, "Were you really trying to kill Naruto?" to which Sasuke refused to respond, smirked then walked off. Initially, when Kakashi diverted their attacks, Sasuke smiled at the fact his attack made a bigger hole in the water tank than Naruto's. But after seeing the water tanks from behind and realizing that Naruto's attack made a bigger impact, Sasuke was furious, proving he showed no upset for the fact he could have killed his comrade, and only towards his attack being less powerful.

9 When He Broke Into The Five Cage Summit

Shortly after declaring war on Konoha and joining Akatsuki, Sasuke and his crew, Team Taka, infiltrated the Five Kage Summit. Filled with rage, Sasuke had every intention of killing all Five Kage, however to his dismay, he didn't anticipate how strong they would be. He was almost killed by the Rakiage's powerful lightning technique before activating his incomplete Susanoo and Amaterasu in order to defend himself. As a result, the Rakiage lost his arm, and before things got even worse, Gaara intervened and attempted to reason with Sasuke.

Sadly, Gaara failed to persuade him to ditch his path into darkness, resulting in Sasuke attempting to defend himself from simultaneous attacks from multiple Kage and their bodyguards. He was almost killed by Terumī's acidic mist and Ōnoki before Tobi arrived and saved him.

8 When He Tried To Kill Sakura

By this point, Sasuke had completely given into his resolve as a criminal of Konoha and all other Great Shinobi Nations. After he killed Danzo, Sakura caught up with him after deciding she would be the one to kill Sasuke for the sins he had committed. Upon her arrival, she tried to convince Sasuke that she wanted to join him and that she was on his side, this was also an attempt to test him to see how much he had truly changed. Sasuke told her to finish off a very wounded Karin to prove her devotion to him and at this moment, Sakura saw Sasuke was not the same person anymore.

As she moved closer to them both, Sasuke activated his Chidori and attempted to kill Sakura. However, Kakashi arrived just in time to save her.

7 When He Fought Naruto, Sakura, And Sai After They Reunited

Many years after Sasuke left Konoha, Naruto and Sakura got news about the whereabouts of Orochimaru's hideout, meaning they could finally track down Sasuke. At this point, the new Team 7 was formed, consisting of two new group members, Sai and Yamato.

When they arrived, Naruto and Sakura frantically search for their old friend, eventually reaching an outside area where they found Sasuke looking down on them. The long-awaited reunion was not pleasant, while they hoped they could bring Sasuke back, they were left disappointed by his lack of care for them. Sasuke then told Naruto that because he spent his time trying to chase him rather than train, he would now lose his life to him. A fight soon broke out between old friends, leaving Naruto and Sakura unable to save him once again.

6 When He Disregarded Karin's Life To Kill Danzo

During the brutal battle between Danzo and Sasuke, Danzo took Karin as a hostage and used her as a shield thinking this would stop Sasuke from attacking him.

Unfortunately for Karin, Sasuke decided to attack Danzo regardless and pierced them both with Chidori. A devastated Karin looks at Sasuke and asks, 'what am I to you?" to which he responds, "Since you allowed yourself to be taken hostage, you're nothing more than a burden." An almost fatally wounded Karin falls to the ground in disbelief of his actions, while Sasuke disregards what he has done and continues to fight Danzo.

5 When He Joined Akatsuki

After Itachi died, Tobi revealed the truth to Sasuke about Itachi's past and the truth behind the Uchiha clan's slaughter. As a result, Sasuke declared war on Konoha and joined Akatsuki on their mission to take ownership of all tailed beasts.

The news that he had joined them eventually reached Konoha village and upon learning this fact, his classmates were in disbelief. Sasuke was officially classed as an S-rate criminal for his actions, yet Naruto still wanted to do everything he could to save his friend.

4 When He Revived Orochimaru To Get His Help

Although Orochimaru got what he deserved, and if Sasuke hadn't absorbed him first then eventually he would have tried to take over his body, Sasuke still had the gall to revive Orochimaru in order to ask him for a favor.

Sasuke needed Orochimaru to perform the Summoning Jutsu: Reanimation technique in order to revive all 4 previous Hokage's as he wanted to find out the truth behind the history of the Uchiha and understand why they were slaughtered. Orochimaru agreed, seemingly putting their sordid past behind them.

3 When He Kept Trying To Kill Naruto

Sasuke has attempted to kill Naruto multiple times and has ignored everything Naruto has ever done to try and save him from a path to darkness. The first time the pair ever fought in a serious capacity without outside distractions, was at the Valley of the End, where Naruto was left half dead.

He after they fought together during the Fourth Great Ninja War Sasuke decided to once again put his goals above others. Rather than reviving everyone from the Infinite Tsukuyomi, he tried to kill Naruto once and for all. Luckily, he failed.

2 When He Stole All The Tailed Beasts

The tailed beasts spent centuries living inside Jinchūriki, and at last, they were free, but not for long. After Kaguya was defeated, Sasuke used his newly acquired visual prowess to take control of the tailed beasts so that he could kill Naruto and all five Kages.

His goal at this point was to burden himself with the hatred of everyone in order to create a new, and in his mind, better Shinobi world. His motives mirrored that of Itachi's sacrifice, and rather than learning from past mistakes, he proceeded to create more destruction.

1 When He Ignored Everything Itachi Suffered For And Declared War On The Leaf Village

Discovering how much Itachi suffered in order to protect Konoha didn't stop Sasuke from once again dramatically overlooking his older brother to go after what he thought was right for him.

Sasuke took the information he received from Tobi, without attempting to seek out further facts, and immediately decided that killing everyone in the Leaf Village was the only way to avenge Itachi and the entire Uchiha clan. He failed to understand everything that his older brother fought for, causing more unnecessary chaos and hurt, something Itachi went through hell to avoid.
