Q18 If we increase the tension in a guitar string, what effect does this have on the frequency and wavelength of the fundamental standing wave formed on that string?

The fundamental wavelength of the guitar string will not change, the ends are still in the same position, so the wavelength is still 2 times the length (nodes at the end). Since we know that increasing the tension will increase the velocity of a wave, , we can look at the equation to see that if the wavelength, l, is kept constant, then increasing the velocity, v, will increase the frequency, f.
