Hello there! It’s so good to see you and here’s why in this post, I’m going to walk you through step by step how to release the gas cap or fuel door on a Toyota Corolla.

How To Open Gas Cap On Toyota Corolla

Time needed: 1 minute

The Toyota Corolla has a release lever or actuator that lets you open the fuel door or gas cap from the inside. So let’s crack on and get into the procedure.

1. Find the release lever

   The release lever for the fuel door is located on the driver’s side floor of the vehicle, next to the trunk release

2. Pull the lever

   You simply pull the lever up and that will release your fuel door 

3. Open the gas cap

   The fuel door is located on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Once open you can remove the gas cap by simply turning counterclockwise 

4. Put in the gasoline

   When the gas cap is removed you can hang it on the cover to tighten the cap then you put the gasoline

5. Close the gas cap

   Once it did, close the gas cap by turning it clockwise till you get one click, and make sure to shut your fuel duct and that is how you release the fuel door

Corolla Hybrid Fuel Door Release

Unlike the standard Corolla, the hybrid variant takes a bit different way to open the fuel door. So let’s get right to work.

• First off, your gas tank is on your left side, but all your Corolla Hybrid will have your fuel door release switch right here on the bottom of the steering

• It does blend in pretty well. So I wanted to press the switch within about 10 seconds
• Once it does, the gasoline filler door will open and you’ll see a progress message on the instrument cluster before you may refuel
• Now you can release the gas cap and refuel your vehicle

Corolla Gas Tank Size

The fuel tank capacity of the Toyota Corolla Hybrid is 11.4 gallons. This holds nearly as much as the standard Corolla’s tank at 13.2 gallons of petrol. It is projected that with the 1.8L 4-cylinder engine, drivers can expect to obtain 33 mpg in combined the city and the highway.
