If you’re making your crochet ear warmer or headband as a gift, be sure to pay attention to the size. How wide an ear warmer or headband should be will depend on the pattern and your preference, but around 3-4 inches (7-10 cm) is a good starting point. For sizing, check out the size chart below.
What is ‘negative ease’ in a crochet ear warmer pattern?
In general, stretchy ear warmers need about 2″ (5 cm) negative ease, depending on stitch pattern and stretchiness. (Beginner’s Note: “ease” in a crochet patterns means the difference in size between what you’re making and your body. “Negative ease” means that your project will come out smaller than your body, but don’t worry – it will stretch!)
