2022 will mark a minimum wage hike for more than half the country.

26 states will get a boost this coming year, including Maine.

Disregarding hazard pay, Maine's official minimum wage will increase from $12.15 an hour to $12.75.

California's large businesses will be required to pay $15 an hour starting in January.

The tight labor market has pushed companies to hike wages to attract and retain workers.

The Bureau of Labor and Statistics found wages and salaries increased 4.2-percent over the last year.
