Since its release in 2011, Skyrim has amassed an incredible following, prompting a demand for more content. Bethesda answered the fans’ demands and released three downloadable contents (DLCs): Hearthfire, Dawnguard, and Dragonborn. Each are very different and offer a whole new dimension to the game. In order to access Dragonborn after you’ve downloaded its content, you must first start the initial quest. There are two ways to do this, however.
Steps
Method 1 Method 1 of 3:Downloading the DLCs
-
1 Purchase the appropriate Dragonborn download. You can buy this from Gamestop for PS3 or here for Xbox 360. Advertisement
Initiating Dragonborn by Getting Assaulted by Cultists
-
1 Reach the “Horn of Jurgen Windcaller” quest. Even if you’ve downloaded the Dragonborn DLC, if you haven’t reached the “Horn of Jurgen Windcaller” quest, you cannot access the DLC. - The “Horn of Jurgen Windcaller” quest is part of the main story, so continue with the main storyline quests until you reach this on.
-
2 Head to Windhelm. Windhelm is a city northeast of Skyrim. If you’ve reached the “Horn of Jurgen Windcaller” quest, you’ll eventually be assaulted by a group of cultists as you head to this city. -
3 Kill the cultists. Using whatever weapons and skills you have, kill your attackers. -
4 Initiate the Dragonborn quest. Once you’ve killed your attackers, search their bodies and take the “Cultists’ orders” item. - You have now accessed and started the Dragonborn DLC.
Initiating Dragonborn by Speaking to Gjalund Salt-Sage
-
1 Reach the “Horn of Jurgen Windcaller” quest.
As you head for the city, you might be assaulted by cultists (Method 1), but if not, continue your way to Windhelm. - Once you reach the outskirts of Windhelm, do not enter the city.
-
3 Speak to Gjalund Salt-Sage. You’ll find him around the docks, which is just outside the city area. He will be working on one of the ships moored there. Ask him to give you a ride to Solstheim. - Asking Gjalund for a ride will start the Dragonborn DLC quest.
