This wikiHow teaches you how to schedule reminders on your Android smartphone or tablet. Both the included Google app and the built-in Android Clock app are sufficient for scheduling reminders for your Android, and you can use the Google Calendar app to schedule a reminder for all of your Google-connected items.
Steps
Method 1 Method 1 of 3:Using Google
-
1 Open Google. Tap the Google app icon, which resembles a red, yellow, green, and blue "G" on a white background. - The Google app comes pre-installed on most Androids.
-
2 Tap ☰. It's in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Doing so brings up the Settings menu. Advertisement -
3 Tap Reminders. This option is near the top of the menu. -
4 Tap +. It's in the bottom-right corner of the screen. A new reminder template will appear in the middle of the screen. -
5 Add a title. Tap the "Title" text box, then type in whatever you want to use for your reminder's title. -
6 Tap the "Time" checkbox. It's below the "Title" section. - You can instead select "Place" for your reminder, but doing so will result in a reminder once you arrive at a destination rather than once it's a specific time of day.
-
7 Set the reminder's details. You can change the following details of your reminder toward the bottom of the menu: - Date — Tap Date, then either select a date in the drop-down menu or tap Set date... to select a calendar day.
- Time — Tap Time, then either select a time in the drop-down menu or tap Set time... to select a specific time on the clock.
- Repeat — If you want your reminder to repeat, tap Repeat, then tap the grey REPEAT WEEKLY switch and tap each day on which you want the reminder to repeat.
-
8 Tap
. It's a checkmark icon at the bottom of the reminder. This will save your reminder; once the reminder is activated, you'll receive a Google notification. - Your reminder will use your Android's default notification sound when it activates.
Using Your Android's Clock
-
1 Open your Android's Clock. Tap the Clock app icon, which resembles a white or blue circle with black or white hands. You'll typically find it both in the App Drawer and on the Home screen. -
2 Tap the ALARM tab. This option is in the top-left corner of the screen.[1] -
3 Tap +. It's in the bottom-right corner of the screen. This will bring up the alarm interface. -
4 Select a date. Tap Date in the upper-right side of the page, then tap the date on which you want your reminder to appear and tap DONE. - Skip this step if you're assigning this reminder on a weekly basis.
- If you need to plan a reminder more than a month ahead, tap
to the right of the current month to move to the next month.
-
5 Specify a time. Swipe through the available hours and minutes until you've selected the proper time, then select AM or PM. - If you use 24-hour time, you don't need to select AM or PM.
-
6 Select days on which to repeat if necessary. If you want your reminder to apply to more than just one day on one occasion, tap the initials of the day(s) on which you want the alarm to repeat. - For example, if you want your reminder to appear on Tuesdays and Thursdays during every week, you would tap both T options in the "Repeat" section.
-
7 Add a name. Tap Alarm name, then type in your reminder's name and tap OK. - For a reminder about a business meeting, for example, you might type in Meeting at noon on an 11:00 alarm.
- You can also adjust other options, such as whether the alarm allows snoozing, the alarm's sound, and the alarm's vibration, before proceeding.
-
8 Tap SAVE. It's at the top of the screen. Doing so both saves your alarm and turns it on for your selected day(s) and time. Advertisement
Using Google Calendar
-

- Type in google calendar.
- Tap Google Calendar in the drop-down menu.
- Tap INSTALL.
-
2 Open Google Calendar. Tap OPEN in the Google Play Store, or tap the blue-and-white Google Calendar app icon. -
3 Navigate through Google Calendar's setup. Swipe through the initial tutorial pages, tap GOT IT at the bottom of the last tutorial page, and tap ALLOW when prompted. -
4 Select a day. Tap the number of the day on which you want to schedule your reminder. -
5 Tap +. This is in the bottom-right corner of the screen. A pop-out menu will appear. -
6 Tap Reminder. It's in the pop-out menu. Doing so brings up the Reminder window. -
7 Enter a reminder. Tap the "Remind me to..." text box if your Android's keyboard doesn't pop up, then type in your reminder's name. -
8 Tap DONE. It's at the top of the screen. -
9 Specify your reminder's details. You can change the following options: - All-day — Tap the blue "All-day" switch to turn off the all-day feature if your event is at a specific time, or tap the grey "All-day" switch (if necessary) if your reminder is for an all-day event.
- Time — If you've turned off the "All-day" switch, tap the time, then select a new time and tap OK.
- Repetition — If you want your reminder to repeat, tap the Does not repeat option, then select an option in the menu. You can also tap Custom... at the bottom of the menu and select specific days.
-
10 Tap SAVE. It's at the top of the reminder window. Doing so will schedule your reminder in Google Calendar. - Your reminder will show up on any Google Calendar on which you're signed into your Android's Google Account.
- The Google Calendar will use your Android's default notification sound when the reminder activates.
