Love s'mores but don't have a campfire or fireplace? Luckily, you can make them indoors using just your microwave! There are several ways of making a basic s'more, and even more ways to spice it up!

Ingredients

Basic Microwave S'more[1]

  • 1 graham cracker
  • 1 small chocolate bar
  • 1 marshmallow

Serves 1

Easy Microwave S'more[2] [3]

  • 1 graham cracker
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons chocolate spread
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons marshmallow spread

Steps

Method 1 Method 1 of 3:

Making a Basic Microwave S'more

PDF download Download Article
  1. Step 1 Break a graham cracker in half. 1 Break a graham cracker in half. Place one of the graham cracker halves on a plate with a paper towel on it. Set the other graham cracker half aside. The paper towel will prevent the cracker from getting soggy.
    • If you can't find any graham crackers, you can use another similar honey-cinnamon flavored cracker instead.
  2. Step 2 Break off a piece of chocolate, and place it on top of the graham cracker. 2 Break off a piece of chocolate, and place it on top of the graham cracker. If you are using one of those large chocolate bars that have brick-like lines, use those lines as a guide. The chocolate should be a little smaller than the graham cracker. Advertisement
  3. Step 3 Place a marshmallow on top of the graham cracker. 3 Place a marshmallow on top of the graham cracker. Stand it up on the flat side, so that it doesn't roll off when you move the plate. Do not place the other graham cracker half on top just yet; you will do that at the end.
  4. Step 4 Microwave the s'more on high for 15 seconds. 4 Microwave the s'more on high for 15 seconds. Put the plate with the s'more on it into the microwave, and heat it on high for 15 seconds.[4] The chocolate will start to melt and become soft, and the marshmallow will puff up.
    • If the marshmallow puffs up too much, heat the s'more at 5-second intervals. Let the marshmallow deflate before heating it again.[5]
  5. Step 5 Take the plate out of the microwave, and place the other graham cracker half on top of the marshmallow. 5 Take the plate out of the microwave, and place the other graham cracker half on top of the marshmallow. Press down on the s'more to seal it. Be careful not to press so hard that the graham cracker breaks.
  6. Step 6 Let the s'more cool for a few minutes before eating it. 6 Let the s'more cool for a few minutes before eating it. S'mores are tasty while they are still hot, but they won't be much fun to eat if you burn your tongue on them!

  1. Step 1 Break a graham cracker in half so that you end up with two squares. 1 Break a graham cracker in half so that you end up with two squares. If you can't get any graham crackers, you can use another type of honey-cinnamon flavored crackers instead.
  2. Step 2 Cover one of the graham crackers with some chocolate spread. 2 Cover one of the graham crackers with some chocolate spread. You can use any type of chocolate spread, such as Nutella. You can also use chocolate fudge sauce instead. If you are using chocolate fudge sauce, make sure that it is cold and thick, like butter; don't heat and melt it beforehand.
  3. Step 3 Cover the other graham cracker with marshmallow spread. 3 Cover the other graham cracker with marshmallow spread. If you can't find any marshmallow spread, you can use one marshmallow, or four mini marshmallows.
  4. Step 4 Press the two graham crackers together, then put them on a plate. 4 Press the two graham crackers together, then put them on a plate. Place the chocolate and marshmallow sides together, and make sure that the corners match up. To prevent the graham cracker from getting soggy, put a paper towel underneath it.
  5. Step 5 Microwave the graham cracker with the marshmallow on high for about 10 seconds. 5 Microwave the graham cracker with the marshmallow on high for about 10 seconds. If you are making more than one s'more at a time, you may need to increase the cooking time to 20 to 30 seconds.[6]
  6. Step 6 Gently press down on the s'more to seal it. 6 Gently press down on the s'more to seal it. Press down hard enough so that the s'more sticks together, but not so hard that the marshmallow oozes out everywhere, or that the cracker breaks.
  7. Step 7 Let the s'more cool a little before eating it. 7 Let the s'more cool a little before eating it. Because you did not heat the chocolate, you won't have to wait that long. A few seconds to a minute will be enough. S'more are delicious, but not when they burn your mouth!

Stepping it Up

  1. Step 1 Experiment with different types of cookies. 1 Experiment with different types of cookies. Graham crackers are sweet, so other types of sweet crackers or cookies will work too. Try it with vanilla wafers or even chocolate chip cookies.
    • If you are using a vanilla wafer, consider using a mini marshmallow instead, or cutting a larger one in half to make a short marshmallow.[7]
  2. Step 2 Experiment with different types of chocolate. 2 Experiment with different types of chocolate. Milk chocolate is most commonly used to make s'mores, but white chocolate and dark chocolate may appeal more to you. If you like things really sweet, you might prefer white chocolate, and if you don't like things really sweet, dark chocolate might be the thing for you.
    • You can also use mint-filled chocolate or even peanut butter-filled chocolate.
  3. Step 3 Add some crunch with cereal. 3 Add some crunch with cereal. After you have microwaved your s'more, add a sprinkle of your favorite breakfast cereal on top of the melted marshmallow. Quickly place the other graham cracker half on top of it, and press down on it gently.[8]
  4. Step 4 Add some fruit. 4 Add some fruit. After you have microwaved your s'more, but before you put it together, add a slice or two of banana or strawberry. You can even use both, strawberries and bananas, for the ultimate treat.[9]
    • For extra flavor, spread some strawberry jam or preserves on top of the second graham cracker half before assembling the s'more.[10]
  5. Step 5 Give it a chocolate-peanut butter twist. 5 Give it a chocolate-peanut butter twist. Make your s'more as usual, but instead of using regular graham crackers, use chocolate-flavored ones. Instead of using chocolate bars or chocolate spread, use 1 to 2 teaspoons of smooth peanut butter.[11]
  6. Step 6 Give it some color and texture with sprinkles. 6 Give it some color and texture with sprinkles. Fill a small bowl or dish with nonpareil sprinkles (the type shaped like tiny balls). Make your s'more, then dip each of the four edges into the sprinkles. The sprinkles will stick to the melted chocolate and marshmallow, giving it a burst of color.[12]
  7. Step 7 Make some deluxe s'mores by drizzling melted chocolate over them. 7 Make some deluxe s'mores by drizzling melted chocolate over them. After you have heated and assembled your s'mores, melt some chocolate in the microwave, then drizzle it over the s'mores. Put the s'mores into the fridge for a few minutes so that it can harden, then eat it.
    • For more color, sprinkle some small candies or sprinkles over the melted chocolate before it hardens and sets.[13]
  8. Step 8 Finished. 8 Finished.

  • Question Don't smores have chocolate on both crackers? Summer Rosenberg Summer Rosenberg Community Answer If you would like it more chocolatey, simply add another piece like you said.
