If you're looking for an Android app that puts two photos side by side, we've found the best tools for the job! Making a collage from two pictures is incredibly easy, no matter which app you use. We enlisted the help of an experienced photographer, Andrea Enger, to show you how to combine two photos into a single image that you can easily share using Google Photos, Samsung Gallery, Adobe Photoshop Express, and Layout from Instagram.

Open your app list and tap the multicolored flower icon labeled "Photos" to get started.

2 Select the photos you want to put together. Tap and hold the photo thumbnails until you see a checkmark appear in the top left corner.
You can add up to 6 photos, but usually, side-by-side collages contain only two.

3 Tap + Add to. This plus sign icon is in the drawer at the bottom of your screen and prompts another menu to open.
4 Tap Collage. It's near the bottom of the "Create" section.
5 Edit your collage. You can pinch your fingers on images within the collage to zoom in on individual pictures. You can also tap and drag to adjust how the images are cropped within their panels. Tap one of the pictures in the collage to replace it with another one.

Using Samsung Gallery

1 Open the Gallery app on your Samsung Galaxy. If you have a Samsung, your built-in Gallery app has a simple collage feature that makes it easy to join two photos together. The gallery has an icon that resembles a stack of images
2 Tap and hold the first photo you want to add. This selects the photo and makes it so you can select additional images.
3 Tap the second photo. This fills in the circle on the photo with a check mark. This adds the photo to your selection.
4 Tap Create. It's at the bottom of your screen towards the left side. Tapping it opens another menu.
5 Tap Collage. Now you'll see both of your photos sharing one screen, although they aren't next to each other yet.
6 Tap the side-by-side layout. This is the second layout option at the bottom of the screen—the one with two vertical bars. Once selected, this will display your photos side by side.
7 Edit the collage. You can change the size of either of the images by pinching your fingers on them. You can tap and drag to change the position of the images within their panels. You can also tap and drag the divider bar in the middle to adjust the split size between the two images.
8 Tap Save when you're finished. This saves the newly merged photo to your gallery.[5]XResearch source
9 Share your collage. To do so, tap Share in the upper-right corner after you save the collage. Then select an app to share the photo in. Now that you have a collage, this option lets you share it in your favorite Android apps, including Instagram, Facebook, and more.[6]XResearch source

Using Adobe Photoshop Express

1 Open Photoshop Express and sign in. If you already have an Adobe account, log in with that. If not, you can create your free Adobe account now by following the on-screen instructions. These accounts are free, so don't worry about charges.
This free app has so many awesome photo editing features, including the ability to put two photos side by side in a single image. You can download it for free from the Play Store.
2 Tap Collage. It's the purple icon with several squares in a grid. It’s at the top of the page. [7]XResearch source
3 Select the photos you want to place side by side. Tap the photos to place a checkmark on top of each photo. You can choose from your recent photos or browse other albums on your Android.[8]XResearch source
4 Tap the blue arrow icon. It’s the icon with an arrow pointing right in the lower-right corner. This will take you to the next step.
5 Tap the first or second layout for a simple side-by-side image. They’re both at the bottom of the screen under the “Layouts” tab. The first layout displays the two images on top and bottom. The second layout displays them side by side.
You can also experiment with other formats to find other creative ways to combine the photos in one image.
6 Adjust the photo. You can tap and drag the images to adjust how they are cropped within their panels. You can also zoom in by spreading two fingers apart. Additionally, you can use the following steps to edit the photos:
Tap Aspect Ratio to change the size of your image, which may cut off your collaged images.
Tap Edit to add more images, delete the project or an image, replace an image, or edit it further with looks and filters.
To change the borders, tap Borders, and choose a style and color.
Tap the icon that resembles two arrows crossing into an “X” in the Layers icon at the bottom to swap the photo panel sides.
7 Tap the Sharing icon . It's at the top of the screen. When you're ready to save or share your photo merge, this option makes it easy.[9]XResearch source

Using Instagram

1 Open Instagram. You don't need to install another app since it's now a feature included within the Instagram app.
Sign in if you aren't. Using this method allows you to create a side-by-side Story on Instagram that you can immediately share with your Instagram followers.
2 Tap +. This plus sign is centered at the bottom of your screen in the middle.
3 Tap Story. Only Story has the Layout feature.
4 Tap the More icon more. It’s the icon that resembles a bracket pointing down on the left side. This displays all options on the left.
5 Tap Layout. It’s an icon that resembles a 1x2 grid on the left side of your screen below the infinity symbol.[11]XResearch source
By default, a 2x2 grid is added.
6 Change to a side-by-side layout. Tap the grid icon below the layout icon (the one with white lines that is not circled), and choose the side-by-side grid.
You can also choose the top and bottom layout or one of the other layouts.

To save your collage to your phone, tap the icon with three dots (⋯) in the upper-right corner. Then tap Save.
To post your collage as a story, tap the white icon with a bracket pointing right in the lower-right corner. Then tap Share at the bottom of the screen.
