Do you want to save what's on your screen to show someone later? Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to take screenshots on your Lenovo computer, laptop, and tablet. This wikiHow article shows you how to screenshot on your Lenovo laptop running Windows 10 or 11 with expert tips from Computer Specialist Luigi Oppido.
Taking Screenshots on a Lenovo Laptop
To take a screenshot on a Lenovo, press the Windows Key + PrtScn button. You can find saved screenshots in the Screenshots folder in Pictures. Alternatively, press PrtScn, paste the image in Paint, and then save the screenshot.
Steps
Method 1 Method 1 of 5:Using the Print Screen Key
-
1 Press the ⊞ Win and ⎙ PrtScr keys at the same time. Depending on the model Lenovo laptop you have, the Print Screen key could be in the upper right corner (next to the Delete key) or in the lower right (next to the arrow keys). - This is the fastest and easiest method for taking screenshots on Lenovo. You can do this if you have Windows 10 or 11 and on any Lenovo computer or laptop.
- On some Lenovo laptops, you'll need to hold down the Fn key when pressing Windows key + Prtsc.[1]
-
2 Find your screenshots in the Pictures folder. Screenshots captured with the Win + Prtsc keys are in a location like C:\Users\username\Pictures\Screenshots.[2] Advertisement
Using Paste
-
1 Press ⎙ PrtScr. This will capture your entire screen to your clipboard. - If you only want to capture the active window, press Alt + PrtSc instead.
- If the previous method didn't work, you can try pasting the image that's copied to your clipboard instead. According to Oppido, "Print screen is just like hitting CTRL + C."[3] Once copied, it can be pasted elsewhere.
-
2 Open the Paint app. This program comes with Windows devices. If you don't have this app, you can use a similar program instead. -
3 Click the Paste button. It's the clipboard icon in the upper-left corner of Paint. This pastes your screenshot into the window. - You can also press CTRL + V to paste.
-
4 Save your screenshot. Click the disk icon in the top-left corner, or click File and select Save. Choose a save location, and then click Save. Advertisement
Using the Snipping Tool
-
1 Open the Snipping Tool. Click the Start menu and type "snipping tool". Click the search result to open it. -
2 Click New. This is at the top-left corner of the Snipping Tool window. -
3 Click and drag your cursor over the selection. If you want to screenshot only part of the screen, click and drag from one corner of the window to the other. - Once you release the cursor, the screenshot will open in a new window.
-
4 Save the screenshot. Click the disk icon, or click File and select Save As. Choose a save location, and then click Save. Advertisement
Using Snip & Sketch
-
1 Open Snip & Sketch. Click the Start menu and type "Snip & Sketch". Then, click the app search result.[4] -
2 Click New. This will move the Snip & Sketch window so you can capture a screenshot. - If you aren't ready immediately for the screenshot, you can click the down arrow next to New and select an option like Snip in 10 seconds.
-
3 Select a mode. At the very top of your screen, you'll see 5 icons: Rectangular snip, freeform snip, window snip, fullscreen snip, and close snipping. Click a mode to use it. -
4 Take the screenshot. Depending on the mode you picked, you'll take screenshots in different ways. For the rectangular and freeform snip, use your mouse to select the area of the screen that you want to screenshot; for window and fullscreen snips click the screen you want to capture. - Your screenshot will appear in the Snip & Sketch window so you can edit and save it.
-
5 Click the screenshot notification. You should see this on the side of your screen. Snip & Sketch will display a preview of the screenshot saved to your clipboard. Clicking the notification will open the editing window. -
6 Edit and save your screenshot. You can use the icons above your screenshot preview to edit it by highlighting areas, drawing on it, or cropping the image. - To save your screenshot, click the disk icon. Choose a save location, and then click Save.

Using Buttons on a Tablet
-
1 Press and hold the On/Off and Volume Down buttons at the same time. These screenshots will be in your Pictures folder inside a "Screenshots" folder.[5] - If you're using a tablet and can't press buttons, go to the Notifications Center (in your taskbar), and select Screen snip. Snip & Sketch will open so you can take a screenshot.
