Merging Two Cells in Word: Quick Tips
To merge cells in Microsoft Word, select the cells. Click Layout at the top, and then click Merge Cells. Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcut Alt + A, Alt + M.
Steps

1 Select the cells you want to merge. If you want to select the entire table, hover over the table and select the table selection icon. To select a column, click the top of the first cell. 2 Click Layout. This is on the far right of the toolbar, next to Table Design. - This is different from the regular Layout tab.
