5 Tips for Getting Rid of that Weed Smell Quickly
@Dad Grass

Cracking open a jar of top-shelf cannabis can fill the nose (and the room) with seductive aromas that range from citrus groves just before harvest to a pine forest after the rain. But what about when you’d rather leave the weed smell at home?

There are tons of tips and products designed to de-weed your house - ranging from air fresheners to filters to incense - but if the aroma is coming from you, then it won’t matter much how you covered your tracks back home. Instead, you need to follow some quick tips for getting the weed smell off your body.

How do you get rid of that weed smell on your body quickly? What can you use to cover up that unmistakable marijuana smell when you are out and about?

Tip #1: Store your weed well

The number one way to keep yourself from smelling like weed is to store your weed securely so that it doesn’t make you or your living space smell. Consider using smell-proof weed bags or airtight weed containers so that the smell of herb only fills the room when smoking or breaking up flowers.

And if you’re traveling with weed, or carrying it on your person outside, consider a discrete, smell-proof carrying case. For instance, the MISSWEED clutch bag is made from fragrance absorbing material, and also has a chic look that doesn’t scream “stash spot.”

Tip #2: Soap and hand sanitizer are your friends

The smell of smoke on your fingers is best dealt with immediately after smoking. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, and if you have a fingernail scrub brush, soap it up and put it to work.

After you’ve dried your hands, a dollop of hand sanitizer can help mask the smell of smoke even further. You may also want to keep a small tube of hand sanitizer in your bag or car, for those times when you can’t wash your hands.

If you’re at home and the smell of smoke on your fingers is especially stubborn, you can try washing your hands with baking soda. Simply rinse your hands, put some hand soap on your palm, and add a teaspoon of baking soda. Work it into a thick lather, then scrub all-around your hands and fingernails for about 30 seconds.

Tip #3: Cover it up with toothpaste, gum, or perfume

Weed smoke can linger on your breath, so brush your teeth after smoking if you can. If not, keep some strong chewing gum or mints on you for those times when you can’t brush your teeth.

A couple of spritzes of perfume, deodorant, or body spray, is another good way to cover the smell. Don’t overdo it though - if you walk into a room smelling like a Sephora branch this may raise some eyebrows, especially if you’re not one to usually wear perfume.

Tip #4: Use Some Febreze or Fabric Softener

If you can’t change clothes after smoking, try using a fabric deodorizer like Febreze, which can be sprayed liberally over your clothes, including while you’re wearing them. But like with perfume, try not to overdo it. Another quick fix is to try rubbing a fabric softener sheet on your clothes if you’re in a hurry.

Tip # 5: Don’t smell like weed in the first place

Covering up the weed smell on your body is a lot easier if you’ve managed to limit how much you’re exposed, to begin with.

If you’re smoking at home - or in your car or office - make sure that the space is well-ventilated. Open a window, turn on a ceiling or box fan, and if possible, exhale as much smoke as you can out of the window. If you can, prop a fan in the window pointing outside, and exhale through it from behind like an exhaust fan. After you’ve smoked, try not to stay in the same spot with the smoke for too long.

If you plan on leaving the house soon after smoking, wait until after you’ve smoked to put on the clothes you plan to wear out. That way, if any clothes do soak up the smell of weed, they’ll stay back at the house when you leave.

Wet hair can soak up the smell of smoke, so if you just washed your hair, give it a chance to dry before you smoke. And if possible, wear a hat or put your hair up while you smoke.

No matter how much you ventilate or change clothes, the smell of smoke can linger on your fingers long after you put out the joint. Get creative - you can use a cigarette holder or a roach clip, wear gloves, or try to stick the joint into the end of a one-hitter. Basically, the farther your fingertips are from the smoke trailing off the end of the joint, the better.

How Long Does Weed Smell Last?

The good news is, for the most part, the smell of weed doesn’t linger all that long on your clothes or body - depending on what you’re wearing. If you’re wearing a thick sweater, a hoodie, or a (fake) fur coat, the smoke can linger longer than a simple t-shirt and jeans.

But by and large, the smell should evaporate relatively quickly from your clothes, your hair, and your body, especially if you’re outdoors in the sunlight. And if you’ve used these quick tips before and during the smoke session, the smell shouldn’t be too much of a problem, to begin with.

nice article. 🍀 💭 💃 vaping is also a great option, better experience, less harmful for the lungs, and basically leaves no smell.
