So, I was in Vegas once upon a time, and the cashier mentioned something to me about $50 bills being basically forbidden in casinos. She literally didn't even have any, and was really reluctant to accept them in order to provide change, etc.She told me the reason, but I completely forget to this day.Does anybody know the story?

I just know that apparently $50s are easily traceable, so people who deal drugs are basically paranoid of handling them. Not sure if this helps.

Wild Bill had bought in with $50s when he got shot etcAnytime I think of $50 bills, I think of Data and Goonies lol....

A lot of guys I play with locally are hellbent on $50 bills being bad luck and will never cash in with them and ask not to be cashed out with them. From what I have heard it is because the $50 bill was the most counterfeited bill back a long time ago and poker players were afraid to take them not knowing if they were real or not.

However, I was looking him up today, and couldn't find anything about this myth. So, after looking Wild Bill up briefly, at least on Wikipedia, it doesn't mention the $50 bills either.

You know.. now that i think of it, I bet it's because grant is on the 50, and all kinds of dumb southerners would hate on the bill for that fact, and it probably grew out of grant hate. That's my wildly unsupported theory.

I actually know the answer to this one$50's are bad luck because when people got 'back-roomed' in Vegas during the old days, the guys who did the enforcing sodomized any perpetrator with stacks of $50 bills. Since then it's become sort of legend (at least in Vegas) that $50s are bad luck.

Friend of mine swears by using only $50's in slot machines. He always brings them with and only will put a $50 in a slot

(I'll also be giving up 1 man card for touching your nuts).

I used $50's once and had one of the worst sessions I have ever had so I have never used them again. I knew that $50s were considered bad luck before the session but ignored it and didnt really think twice about using them.also online I wont ever buy in for $50 or let myself have exactly $50 on the table. Really the only thing I am superstitious about in gambling.

If 50s are easy to confuse with 5s, why aren't 100s easy to confuse with 10s or 1s?

Dumbest superstition in the world. Worse than a pantshitter being superstitious about changing his underwear.

Dumbest superstition in the world. Worse than a pantshitter being superstitious about changing his underwear.lol, I just thought there was an interesting story to it.The story I told before I figured out I had completely made it up, was that Bugsy Siegel was shot to death in a casino, and was found with nothing but $50s on him.I'm gonna just stick with that, and I suggest the rest of you do to. It's far cooler than the non-cool stories everyone is trying to pass off as cool stories in this thread.

Hey Ray,I read your post:
I'll trade for your 50's if you're that paranoid about it, but I also get 1 free punch to your nuts, and take 2 man cards from you....and I was going to reply with a standard response along the lines:This is just your excuse to touch his nuts. Then I read the rest of your post:
(I'll also be giving up 1 man card for touching your nuts)....and realized that your post was a level 3 post and my level 2 reply was no match for you in a heads-up post-off. My only hope was to suck out with a "QFT" or a "LOL" from another poster within the next 3 replies. Getting stuck all in and drawing to a 2-outer is never a situation I like being in, so I will elect to simply fold in this confrontation and make a note about your unusual play in this heads-up posting match. You may have won this post, but the thread isn't over yet, so I am still confident I can make a come-back after the next page-count level-up.

Damn you're sneaky!TYWhen you flop a combo-post like I did, I find that a "self analysis" min-raise reply is the best way to draw out the bluff 3-bet LOL-reply.I don't always use that approach (for balance), but it is my preferred way to induce the LOL.

its because the old $50 bills looked a lot like $5s and ppl would frequently tip a dealer, etc with a $50 thinking it was a $5
