+ Expand all - Collapse all 1What is StarHub’s 5G?With 5G Standalone (5G SA) network, you can now enjoy more of the things you love, such as gaming at ultra-low latency, video stream at ultra-fast speeds, experience crystal clear conversations with family and friends, plus so much more.
2What is Ultra-clear HD voice?Ultra-clear HD voice is a Voice over 5G (VoNR) service which enables voice calls over our 5G SA network. You can bring multi-tasking and productivity to a whole new level! Enjoy ultra-fast 5G speeds when streaming, gaming or surfing, and still enjoy crystal clear mobile conversations with your loved ones simultaneously.
3How do I enjoy StarHub’s 5G SA and Ultra-clear HD voice?All customers on our 5G mobile plans with a 5G SIM can enjoy 5G Standalone network and HD Voice Calls.
If you’re not on our 5G mobile plan:
a. Upgrade or sign up for our Mobile+ or no contract Star Plan and get our latest 5G SIM card^
b. Pair with a 5G device*
c. Be in an area covered by our 5G service
^ For existing Mobile+ customers, we recommend you change to new 5G SIM cards for a more secured connection.

5Where can I enjoy StarHub’s 5G service?StarHub's 5G network coverage is available indoors and across over 99% outdoor areas in Singapore.

7In what frequency band and spectrum(s) is StarHub running its 5G network on?StarHub's 5G Standalone Access (SA) is deployed on 3.5GHz and 2.1GHz spectrum that allows us to enhance and expand our 5G coverage.
8What happens to my network when I am in an area that is not within StarHub’s 5G coverage?Not to worry, there will be no disruption to your mobile service. You will continue to enjoy seamless 4G connectivity on Singapore’s #1 awarded network.
9What is StarHub’s 5G speed range?Please refer to the below table for 5G SA theoretical speed range.

You can enjoy StarHub’s 5G by upgrading to our Mobile+ plans or no-contract SIM only Star Plan. Simply log in to StarHub app to check if your existing plan is eligible.
If you are servicing your device contract, you can upgrade your plan to the same or higher monthly subscription plan with no additional fees to enjoy more data with StarHub's 5G service.
This can be done easily via StarHub app:


StarHub’s 5G service is currently not available for prepaid subscribers.
You can enjoy our 5G service by switching to our Mobile+ plans or no-contract SIM only Star Plan and getting a 5G device at starhub.com/store. You will be able to retain your existing prepaid mobile number and enjoy the convenience of a monthly bill, no top-ups required!
With our 5G plans, you can enjoy bigger data bundle, more talktime, and SMS. You’ll also get to enjoy GeForce NOW cloud gaming on us.

12What happens if I'm temporarily unable to connect to the StarHub 5G Network?On instances where 5G network is unavailable, you will automatically be switched to our 4G network to ensure you remain connected online. As soon as 5G network becomes accessible, you will automatically be reconnected back to our 5G network.
13Can I continue to enjoy 4G as StarHub rolls out 5G service?Yes you can! 4G network is still available for our customers.
To experience the benefits of our 5G service such as faster speeds, real-time responses and enhanced connectivity, we encourage you to sign up to our Mobile+ plans or no-contract SIM only Star Plan and get a 5G device*.

14What is the difference between 5G and 4G?The move from 3G to 4G LTE was about faster connections but the evolution to 5G is so much more. 4G LTE enables mobile broadband connectivity to power video streaming, high quality video calls and faster browsing.
5G is designed with enhanced capability to enable next-generation user experience and deliver new services. With increased speeds, better response times and superior reliability, 5G will enable revolutionary applications like remote healthcare, cloud gaming, immersive virtual reality and more.

2What is the difference between the current 4G SIM and the new 5G SIM?The new 5G SIM will allow you to enjoy the full benefits of our 5G SA network sites with a 5G SA-ready handset.
This includes gaming at ultra-low latency, video streaming at ultra-fast speeds, experiencing crystal clear conversations with family and friends, plus so much more.
Not to worry, if you’re on our current 4G SIM, you’ll still enjoy seamless connectivity on Singapore’s #1 awarded network.
3How do I get the new 5G SIM?All customers who recontract or sign up for a new Mobile+ plans or no-contract SIM only Star Plan will get the new 5G SIM card. For existing customers who are still holding on to a non-5G SIM, we strongly encourage you to perform a SIM card replacement using our StarHub app .
Once you have received the 5G SIM, please activate it using the StarHub app, so that you can enjoy the full suite of 5G benefits on Singapore’s #1 awarded network.
4Will my 5G handset work if I do not change to a 5G SIM?Yes, of course. The current 4G SIM will still work across all handsets on both 4G and 5G NSA networks and you will still enjoy the best mobile experience with StarHub.
However, we strongly encourage you to get a new 5G SIM to enjoy the full suite of benefits on StarHub’s 5G network.
5Will I be able to use 5G if I am on a 4G handset with a 5G SIM?You will need a 5G-supported handset to enjoy our 5G mobile experience. However, you will still be able to stay connected on our 4G network. Please refer to the 5G Device FAQ for the list of StarHub approved handsets.
6Will the 5G SIM work in a non-5G area?Yes, you can! On instances where 5G network is unavailable, you will automatically be switched to our 4G network to ensure you remain connected at all times. As soon as 5G network becomes accessible, you will automatically be reconnected back to our 5G network.
7I signed up for a 4G plan but received a 5G SIM card, does it mean I get to enjoy 5G service?You’ll need to be on our 5G plan to enjoy the full suite of 5G benefits:
- Upgrade or sign up for our Mobile+ plans or no-contract SIM only Star Plan and get our latest 5G SIM card
- Pair with a 5G device
- Be in an area covered by our 5G service

8I am currently subscribed to a Mobile+ plan. Do I need to change my SIM Card in order to enjoy 5G standalone?Yes, we strongly encourage you to get a new 5G SIM to elevate your mobile experience and enjoy the full suite of benefits on StarHub’s 5G network.
9How do I request for a new or replacement 5G SIM card?For details on how to request a SIM card, click here.
10How do I activate my new 5G SIM card?If you have signed up for a new mobile line or ported your existing mobile number to us, simply insert your new SIM card into your device and you’re good to go.
If you have recontracted your existing mobile line or requested for a 5G SIM card replacement, simply log on to StarHub app and select “Activate your SIM card”. The SIM activation may take up to 1 hour and any active SIM card on your device will be disabled upon proceeding with the setup. You will require data connection during the setup and you may experience intermittent connection during this time. You will receive an SMS notification in an hour’s time to inform you that your new SIM card is successfully activated. When your new SIM card is activated, simply insert your new SIM card into our device and you’re good to go.

5G devices approved for use on 5G Non-standalone (“NSA”) networks may not work on 5G Standalone (“SA”) networks following the suspension or cessation of the 5G NSA Trial.
2How do I enable 5G on my Apple iPhones?- Go to “Settings”
- Tap on “Mobile Data”
- Select SIM
- Select “Voice & Data”
- Set to “5G On” and allow "5G Standalone"

Turn on 5G on your HUAWEI phones in 4 simple steps:
1. Go to “Settings”2. Select “Mobile network”3. Select “Mobile data”4. Tap “Preferred network mode” and select “NR/LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto”.And you are all set to experience StarHub’s 5G service!
4How do I enable 5G on my Samsung phones?Firstly, ensure your phone is updated to the latest software.
- Go to “Settings”
- Select “Software update”
- Select “Download and install” Your device will proceed to download the latest version.
- Press install after the download is completed.

Once the software is updated, turn on 5G on Samsung phone in 4 simple steps:
- Go to “Settings”
- Select “Connections”
- Select “Mobile networks”
- Network mode should be showing “5G/LTE/3G/2G” by default

Firstly, ensure your phone is updated to the latest software. Once the software is updated, turn on 5G on OPPO phone in 4 simple steps.
- Go to “Settings”
- Select “SIM card & mobile data”
- Select “SIM 1” or “SIM 2”
- Tap “Preferred Network Type” and select “5G/4G/3G/2G(Auto)”

- Go to “Settings”
- Select “SIM card & mobile data”
- Select “SIM”
- Under Preferred network type – it should show “5G/4G/3G/2G"

Ensure your phone is updated to the latest software.
- Go to “Settings”
- Select “System update”
- Click to download and install this version “PD2005F_EX_A_1.20.18”
Once upgrade is completed, switch your Network mode.
- Go to “Settings”
- Select “Mobile network”
- Select “SIM 1/2”
- Select “Network mode” under “SIM settings”
- Tap “5G (preferred) / 4G / 3G / 2G”
