5th Round FA Cup Draw 2022 Results: Teams, Matches And ...

The Fifth Round of the FA Cup delivered only one real surprise with Tottenham Hotspur losing to Middlesbrough. Four other Premier League sides, Manchester City, Chelsea, Everton, and Crystal Palace took care of their lower-division opponents.

Every team in the quarterfinals will hail from the top two divisions, but we are guaranteed a new FA Cup winner this year, as defending champions Leicester City crashed out in the Fourth Round at the hands of Nottingham Forest.

The lowest-ranked side in the Fifth Round was Boreham Wood (fifth division), but they were handled by Everton. Southampton beat West Ham in an all-Premier League matchup, while Liverpool knocked off Norwich City at Anfield in the other.

For the rest of the competition, matches that end in a draw after 90 minutes will head straight to extra time and penalty kicks.

Which teams qualified for the FA Cup 5th Round?

The Premier League contributed nine of the 16 participants in the Fifth Round. While there was plenty of lower league competition alive in the Fourth Round, all of the League One and League Two sides were eliminated.

When are the FA Cup 5th round matches scheduled?

The Fifth-Round matches are scheduled to be played between Tuesday, March 1 through Monday, March 7.

Every month will see at least one round of FA Cup matches played, except for March — when two rounds will be played (Round of 16 and quarterfinals).

When was the FA Cup 5th round draw?

There were no conditions to the FA Cup draw: Any team could land any of the others, no matter the tier. The host of each matchup was also randomly drawn.

In addition to every remaining match held in the competition, ESPN+ also carried the draw from Wembley Stadium with the stream kicking off at 6:50 a.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 9, just 10 minutes before the Liverpool vs. Cardiff City match and with a pair of games still to play later that same day.

The draw was also carried live on YouTube on the official FA Cup channel.

The 10 minutes allotted was more than enough time to get the draw in, given the amount of teams remaining and how efficiently run the draws are compared to the productions that are undertaken for other competitions: Each surviving team was assigned a number and the balls with those numbers were drawn by special guests. It's as simple as that. There is no unscrewing of hollow balls with small scrolls of paper unfurled, a process which can add significant time to the proceedings.
