Dina Scherer Dina Scherer Wardrobe Stylist & Personal Shopper Expert Answer Bring along shoes that match the type of clothes that you'll be trying on. For instance, you wouldn't want to wear a pair of sneakers while you're trying on a suit—instead, you'd wear or bring along a pair of flats, pumps, or loafers. Thanks! We're glad this was helpful. • Question How do I pick comfortable shoes when shopping? Community Answer Community Answer Feel inside the shoe for padding to start. Then, put them on and walk around for a bit. While you have the shoes on, slide your finger into the back of the shoe to see whether or not the shoe will rub against your ankle. Lastly, press down on the toe of the shoe to make sure that they aren't too small. If there isn't any space between your big toe and the toe of the shoe, get a bigger size. Thanks! Tips from our Readers

The advice in this section is based on the lived experiences of wikiHow readers like you. If you have a helpful tip you’d like to share on wikiHow, please submit it in the field below.
  • If possible, try to bring a minimal amount of items. Stick to a small wristlet or side purse, with a wallet or phone. Less is more!
  • If the shopping mall you are going to is far, you should wear flat shoes. Wearing heels will hurt your feet.
  • Take a rucksack-type bag. This will be easier on your shoulders, but be on the lookout for purse snatchers.
  • Don't bring big accessories, such as a large handbag or large, fancy earrings.
