When the new year comes around once again, many of us begin envisioning a fresh start and perhaps a lot more luck in the coming year. Whether you’re a superstition-believer or not, there are those who see the power of New Year’s colors to bring them heaps of good luck. And while these hues might not exactly promise tons of fortune, in any case, we think they’ll make you feel energized and self-assured as you take on a new year.

For example, red is considered by many to be a lucky color, but it’s also associated with gumption and confidence, making it an ideal color for your New Year’s Eve party ensemble. White is associated with a feeling of freshness, so it’ll act as a symbol if you don it from head to toe. And gold? Well, that’s a color that’s intrinsically tied to New Year’s Eve (the ultimate party color!) and it can denote prosperity, too. Translation? Break out the sequins!

And New Year’s colors don’t have to be limited to just your outfit choices for the occasion. Remember, they’ll look great and may even create some “lucky” ambiance as you do your New Year's Eve party decorating. Shades of silver and purple are perfect for this, and you can always bring back that gleaming shade of gold to really go all out.

No matter what shade you gravitate toward, you’re sure to at least feel luckier with the help of these hues.

Red: Good Luck

Putting red front and center is a great choice for New Year's Eve. While the Lunar New Year won't be celebrated until February 10, 2024, you may still want to take some inspiration from the holiday and wear red. In Chinese culture, red is associated with good luck, so it can't hurt to don a shade of red as we enter the new year.
