With the development of the new 8-speed automatic transmission by ZF, the focus is not on the number of speeds but rather on the minimization of fuel consumption. The new 8HP 8-speed automatic transmission, which was designed to be more lightweight, sets new standards for flexibility, efficiency, and economy. It is an excellent example of how the power of innovation can create a new classic design. Details Contact Service & SupportDetails
8HP – One transmission, many possibilities
With the new gear set concept 8HP only needs 5 shift elements for 4 gear sets. And since only two shift elements are opened per gear, drag losses in the transmission are significantly minimized. At the same time, 8HP only needs 3 multidisk clutches and 2 brakes. As a result, 8HP is more efficient than other concepts. This effect is supported by the use of a new parallel-axis vane cell pump. More power with less weight From the lower mid-size car to the sporty luxury segment, and in every SUV - the torque range of 220 to 1,000 Newton meters makes 8HP the perfect choice for all rear and all-wheel concepts. Although 8HP has 2 more gears than 6HP, the dimensions have remained the same while the weight has been reduced by as much as 3%. It now weighs 87 kg with a mid-size 8HP70 transmission including oil. In addition, a total spread of 7.0 always ensures the optimum operating point of the engine - providing greater acceleration with less fuel consumption. More efficiency through less consumption The 8HP product family is already well-prepared for more stringent consumption and CO2 guidelines in the future. In upper and middle class vehicles, for example, the optimized 8HP ensures 3% less average consumption and CO2 emissions. This potential can be completely transferred to hybrid drives - without taking any additional savings potential of optimized automatic engine stop functions into consideration. More technology for less loss In order to achieve all this progress, we have optimized a number of details of 8HP. The advantages at a glance: Reduced drag torques and engine speed to minimize power loss Greater transmission spacing and lower system pressures Multidisk separation of brakes New torsional dampers for superior hydrodynamic power transmission and further speed reduction Fit for the future This already makes the new 8HP is ideally equipped for future 3- to 8-cylinder engines.Contact
