Step 1 – Start with a curve

We will be starting with drawing a curve. This will make the back of the rat. Make sure the curve is deep.

Step 2 – Draw the ears

Proceed to draw the ears of the rat. For this, you will have to draw an inverted 3-shaped figure. In the bottom semi-circle, draw another semi-circle. The ears should start where the back ends.

Step 3 – Start the face

From the top part of the ear, draw a straight line. This line need not be straight. Just draw a free-hand line. This will mark the start of the face of the rat.

Step 4 – Complete the face of the rat

From the end of the line, draw a 3-like structure. This is to make the lips/ mouth part of the rat. From here, draw a curved line extending it to the bottom. This will make the body of the rat, stomach to be precise.

Step 5 – Draw the legs

From the end of the curve you have drawn in Step 4, you need to draw the legs. Here we will be drawing the front two legs. You can also draw the feet to add more details.

Step 6 – Draw the hind legs

From the end of the foreleg, draw a narrow curve to make the stomach of the rat. From here you need to draw the hind legs. Add the feet for detailing.

Step 7 – Draw the tail

Extend the curve of the back. Also, extend the curve from the hind leg. Make sure you do not join the entire figure. Leave a little space. From there draw two lines and keep narrowing them until they meet. Make sure the tail is really long and curved.

Step 8 – Add details to the face

Now that the structure of the rat is ready, we are ready to add the details. First, we will add details of the face. Draw an eye. For this, you need to draw an oval. Share this with a dark pencil. Now draw the nose. you need to draw a small circle. Keeping that as the centre, draw whiskers.

Step 9 – Add the hair
