The Amazon Secured Card and Prime Secured Card are designed for people who are looking to build or rebuild their credit and requires a security deposit when the account is opened.

The Amazon Secured Card and Prime Secured Card, issued by Synchrony Bank, are unique credit cards each with two sets of features – the Secured Card features and the Store Card features. The two credit features have some different rates, fees and rewards. Upon approval, only the Secured Card features will be available for your use. The Secured Card features require a security deposit, the amount of which will equal the credit limit on your account. After 12 months, Synchrony Bank will determine if you are eligible to opt in to convert to the Store Card features of the account based on eligibility criteria and your credit profile. If you are eligible, you may, but are not required to, choose to convert to the Store Card features, in which case your access to the Secured Card features will be permanently disabled. The choice is always yours and you will be provided with all the important information necessary to make the decision that is right for you. Like the Amazon Store Card and Prime Secured Card, the Amazon Secured Card and Prime Secured Card can be used on Amazon.com and with select Amazon affiliates.

As an Amazon Secured Cardholder, you can choose equal monthly payments on qualifying purchases or earn 2% back every day on Amazon.com purchases with an eligible Prime membership (5% back with an eligible Prime membership if you were approved for an Amazon Secured Card prior to January 1, 2021). Finally, the Amazon Secured Card may offer the opportunity to convert to the Store Card features. To learn more, click here.

Building Credit with Amazon Secured Card

Synchrony Bank will report your account activity to the major credit bureaus. Building a history of on-time payments can help build your credit. As a cardholder, you have several tools at hand to help you learn to build your credit through responsible usage. You can also monitor your credit score and simulate how your credit score could change based on your actions by registering for TransUnion CreditView™ once your card is open.

Difference Between Amazon Secured Card and Debit or Prepaid Cards

Unlike a debit card or a prepaid card, the Amazon Secured Card is an actual credit card. You need to make monthly payments on your balance by the payment due date. Please know that although you must pay at least the minimum payment due each month, you can always choose to pay the full statement balance or any amount in between. Synchrony Bank reports your credit activity to the major credit bureaus-providing the opportunity to build your credit, with responsible use.
