RTENOTITLE
Evolved from: - Evolves into: Kadabra (at level 16)
Locations: Route 5, 6, 7 and 8 (Yellow);  Route 24 and 25 (Red/Blue); Celadon Casino (All)
This Pokémon naturally learns the following techniques:
LV 01 - Teleport
Tips: While it may not be an impressive Psychic Pokemon at first, it later evolves into the more powerful Kadabra (at level 16) and finally the Psychic powerhouse Alakazam. The only problem is that you'll need a friend to get Alakazam (it evolves by trading). A wild Abra can be hard to catch since it immediately teleports away from danger. Your best chance is to put it to sleep or bind it with Wrap-type moves, until you have lowered its HP enough to catch it. Note that a Kadabra (or Alakazam) evolved from an Abra is usually much stronger and faster, so be sure to raise yours from ground up. As far as stats go, Abra severely lacks Attack and Defense powers, but excels in the Speed and Special departments. Luckily, its stats receive a healthy boost when you evolve it.

When battling an Abra, remember that its biggest weakness is to Bug Pokemon. A move like Pin Missile does wonders, but any other non-Fighting moves work well, too. And remember, never send a Fighting or a Poison (or Ghost) Pokemon into battle with a Psychic, even if you're dealing with the unevolved and rather cute Abra.

This Pokémon can learn the following HMs and TMs:

Origin: Abra derives its name from the famous "magic" charm "Abracadabra". According to John Ayto's "Dictionary of Word Origins," the word goes back to the third century AD and most likely comes from a cabalistic word of the Basilidians, a Gnostic sect of Alexandria, which was in turn based on the deity ABRAXAS. Originally, Nintendo planned to call Abra Hocus.
