Accutane® | A Legacy Of Results That Last

Accutane changed my face. I began to experience acne at the age of 8, and as I neared college graduation, it worsened to severe nodular acne. My skin developed painful lumps and bumps that were red, swollen, and tender to touch.

I was incredibly self-conscious. I distinctly remember hiding in the bathroom one Sunday evening, staring in the mirror and crying. My friend had just arrived to pick me up so we could go dancing, but the angry bumps on my chin refused to be hidden by concealer. My friend tried to console me by telling me it would be dark. That didn’t make me feel any better — it was so visible. I was 22, and instead of growing out of my acne, it was getting worse.

I asked a dermatologist for help. He prescribed me Accutane, and I am so grateful he did. My dermatologist told me about the risks for pregnant women and I took the necessary precautions.* He also warned me that there were potentially serious side effects like birth defects, serious mental health problems, and skin problems, among others.

I remember experiencing dry skin during treatment, but Accutane helped improve my severe nodular acne. The painful lumps and bumps I’d tried to hide for so long were diminished.
