With Midland Health, you can book an urgent appointment online by sending us an email or over the phone and be seen the same day. The most common types of acute infection are:
Viral Infections –
Acute viral infections are sudden or rapid onset of diseases which usually resolves themselves, however in some cases the body needs a little help. Commonly observed pathogens in acute viral infections are influenza and the common cold but in more severe cases include HIV or measles. The symptoms of acute viral infection may begin with minimal to no symptoms but can include aches, pains, rashes and fevers.
Bacterial Infections -
Acute bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections, bacterial rhinosinusitis (infection of the nasal cavity) and Escherichia coli (most commonly transmitted via food poisoning) may need antibiotics. These infections can cause a variety of symptoms such as pain or burning when passing urine, severe symptoms such as excessive mucus, pain, vomiting and diarrhoea, cramping and inflammation. If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms and think you may have an acute infection, please call 0121 769 0999 for an urgent appointment with one of our acute infections specialists.
