How to Add Custom Attribute in Active directory?

Objective: To add custom LDAP attributes configured in Active Directory to ADManager Plus to manage and report on those attributes using ADManager Plus.

Solution: ADManager Plus provides an out-of-the-box option to add a custom LDAP attribute to it. It also offers the flexibility to specify the object type, and the relevant management operations and reports in which it should be used.

Steps to add a custom LDAP attribute in ADManager Plus:

  1. Click the Admin tab.
  2. From Custom Settings, select LDAP Attributes.
  3. In the Customize LDAP attributes page, click the Add Attribute option.
  4. In the Custom Attribute window that opens up,
    • Enter the desired Display Name and the corresponding LDAP Name of the attribute you wish to add.
    • Select the appropriate Data Type of the custom attribute.
    • In Associated Reports field, select the reports in which this attribute can be used. You can leave this field empty if you do not want to view the custom attribute in ADManger Plus reports.
    • In Associated Management, select the object type, and the type of management actions that the custom attribute can be used. Leave this option empty if you do not wish to manage the custom attribute's value using ADManager Plus.
    • Click Add. This value of this custom attribute can now be managed or viewed using the selected management actions and reports respectively.
