Billy Bob B Hi All, I'm new to this, so I hope I'm on the right place. I have a 2015 F150 XLT Supercrew with the 3.5 Ecoboost. Right now I have the larger towing mirrors (non-extendable) that are power adjustable (only) and have the 8 pin plug. I want to replace these mirrors with the manual extendable (and manual folding) towing mirrors. I have found a set that will fit (8 pin plug) that have power adjustable upper glass. They also have heated glass. I would like to take advantage of the heated glass, but I do not have rear window defrost. I know I will have to add a switch and a timed relay (10 minutes) to power the heat elements in the new mirrors. Supposedly, the wiring is already in the factory harness to power the heated glass. I just need to tap into this wire to make the heated glass work. My question is: Which of the wires in the factory harness that goes to the mirrors is for the heated glass? When that system is in place the mirrors are plug-n-play for the feature. Just swap them out and the wires are already in the harness - once plugged in they function. The electrical functions on the '15+ are monitored by on board computer (including trailer harness). You will need someone to determine if the BCM needs to have the defrost enabled for the switching to operate or not. I am not familiar with it nor aware of anyone who has ventured on that path. #3 · Dec 24, 2016 Theres a pretty good thread in that "other" forum that will give you the info you need. If the BCM needs to be programmed either you can have the dealer do it or use Forscan. #4 · Dec 27, 2016 Thanks for getting back. I was planning on using a switch and a timed relay (10 minutes) to power the heat elements in the new mirrors. These are from an aftermarket source ("Frost Fighter") who manufacture components for adding window and mirror defrost to vehicles that don't have those options. All I need to do is tie into a 12V source. I was just hoping someone could tell me which wire in the existing mirror harness was the one for the heated mirror. #5 · Dec 28, 2016 Edit: sorry Charlie. I was talking about the wee mirrors. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk Status Not open for further replies. You have insufficient privileges to reply here.
