According to earlier RTE rules of 2014-15, age limit for admission in Nursey level should be between 2 years and 6 months and 3 years 6 months and for admission to Junior KG (LKG) Class should be between 3.5 and 4.5 years and for Class I should be between 5.5 and 6.5 years. But after RTE guidelines of 2016-17, a child must have completed 3 years and 10 months for admission in LKG class and 5 years and 10 months for Class I as on 01.06.2016. A child going to take admission for LKG class must have completed 3 years 10 months as on or before June 1 of the year. In your case your daughter will be completing 3 and 1/2 years in April month. Her age will be 3 months less on 01 June from required age and she will not be eligible for admission in LKG class as per CBSE norms. But I think age limit for admission in LKG is solely depending on school's own decision. If any school is taking your child in LKG you can go for it.

The issue of age limit for LKG, UKG and class 1 varies from type of school to state to state in which it falls. Most of them follow a general principle of 3+ age for LKG and 5+ for class 1.In the CBSE schools the general rule followed for admission in LKG is that the child should have attained the age of 3-1/2 years as on 1st June of the respective year. This rule is not very strict in the sense that the school administration can relax it to anything between 3 to 4 years. This discretion will change from place to place as it solely depends upon the local administration. Only problem is that when the child reaches to become eligible to take admission in class 1 then they will enforce the minimum stipulated age of 5 years as on 1st March of the respective year. It is seen that the enforcement at the time of class 1 admission is more strict and one has to plan the LKG admission accordingly.Knowledge is power.

In regard to admission in different classes for CBSE pattern for classes of LKG is 3+ years but according to the latest guide line of RTE, there has been some minor adjustment with the revision of the existing age with the upward increase of four months. This would be computed on the basis of completion 3 years 10 months on the 1 st June of the year when the admission is to sought. In respect to admission for UKG and Class 1, it would be 4 years 10 months and 5 years 10 months respectively. However, in your case when there is shortage by four months in order to eligible for admission, you should not be panic for such a minor shortfall of her age. The age criteria differs from schools to schools to some extent. If some school refuses for her admission on that ground, the other school would entertain her for admission. You could discuss the same with the school - authority. Moreover, there is always a possibility of minor changes in respect of ages from time to time and when she reaches to class ten, a new circular may come up making her entitled for appearing class ten Board - examination.

For getting admitted into LKG the age limit as per the present rules in CBSE schools is 3 years 10 months as on June of that year. Your daughter will be completing 3 years 6 months as on April. She will be 3 years 8 months as on June of this year. There will be a difference of 2 to 3 months to your daughter. But this is never a severe problem. The age limits will be flexible for admission to LKG in different Schools in CBSE format. No one will object for those 3 months difference. You can approach the school where you want her to get admitted and accordingly you can request the management there. Once you get her admitted , there will not be any problem.Even there is a shortage off 3 months for attending examinations of SSC, at that time the school can approach the board and the board will consider that. So start looking for a good school and get her admitted.drrao always confident
