Jonathan Joestar
- Strength: Physically dominant enough to overwhelm vampires.
- Weakness: Too kind to finish off enemies.
He is the protagonist of the first part of the JoJo series. A noble and honorable man, Jonathan Joestar earned the respect of most of his enemies. Even when he was betrayed by Dio Brando, Jonathan had it in his heart to forgive him. Jonathan did not possess any Stand, but he was able to use Hamon. He learned to use it from Will Zeppeli and, in a short time, he was able to master it.
Biggest Achievement: After his father's death, Jonathan was understandably sad. He knew that he had to avenge his father, so he decided to go after Dio. However, Dio had become stronger and more dangerous than before. Jonathan knew that he had to defeat him for the sake of humanity and when the two met for the final time on the boat, Dio managed to mortally wound Jonathan. Even after that, the Joestar could not bring himself to kill his brother. Having the heart to forgive their father's killer is something that most people cannot do.
Best power: Jonathan was the first protagonist in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, so he did not have access to a Stand. However, he could use Hamon, which was taught to him by Will Anthonio Zeppeli. The latter was surprised by how quickly Jonathan managed to learn how to use Hamon. With this power, Jonathan was able to defeat DIO and his minions, and ultimately, save the world in the process.
Stand: Jonathan is the only JoJo protagonist who did not have a Stand. However, many fan theories suggest that DIO's the World actually belonged to Jonathan. But the lack of more concrete evidence means that Jonathan is considered only a Hamon user.
Joseph Joestar
- Strengths: Hamon, Physical Strength, can trick an opponent and achieve victory with minimal effort.
- Weakness: Stand, Endurance.
Joseph Joestar is the main lead for Battle Tendency. Unlike Jonathan, Joseph mainly relied on his wit to outsmart his enemies. Joseph's character is quite different from his predecessor as he knows when to run away from a difficult situation. However, Joseph knows how to honor a great fighter, and he showed it when he fought against Esidisi and Wamuu. He is the only character who has been shown using a Stand and Hamon.
Biggest Achievement: Joseph was involved in several parts, which allowed Araki to work on his character. In Part 4, it was revealed that Joseph had an illegitimate son with a woman in Japan. Since he was scared of Suzy Q, Joseph never went to see his son, but as part 4 continued, Joseph finally found the courage to talk to his offspring. He also proved that he was ready to bleed out just to prove himself to Josuke.
Best power: Joseph was not just physically strong, but he was also extremely cunning. Throughout Part 2, Joseph utilized his intelligence to get out of perilous situations. He would try to get inside the mind of his opponent, and then try to outfox them. Joseph was also trained by Lisa Lisa to use Hamon, which helped him take down dangerous Pillar Men.
Stand: Joseph's Stand is called Hermit Purple. It barely has any offensive power, which is why Joseph mainly relies on Hamon and his intelligence to win fights. Hermit Purple does have its uses. Joseph can utilize it to learn information about a person or an object. Hermit Purple can also use it to take control of electronic systems.
Jotaro Kujo
- Strengths: Powerful Stand that can stop time, intelligence.
- Weaknesses: Lacks Hamon.
Jotaro Kujo is the grandson of Joseph Joestar, and he's one of the few characters who have appeared in multiple parts. He was involved in Parts 3, 4, 5, and 6. He possesses Star Platinum, which is one of the strongest Stands in the series. Jotaro was able to kill DIO and save his mother from dying. Despite not looking like a caring individual, Jotaro actually cares about his family and friends.
Biggest Achievement: Often considered to be a cold and callous individual, Jotaro is surprisingly a very kind person. In Stone Ocean, when his daughter's life was in danger, Jotaro sent her an amulet that allowed her to awaken her Stand. Furthermore, he sacrificed his only chance to take down Enrico Pucci in order to save his daughter. This signified his growth as a character and made him even more likable.
Best power: Jotaro possessed Star Platinum, one of the strongest Stands in the entire series. With its power, Jotaro could stop time for a few seconds. He could easily avoid any fatal attacks by simply moving out of the way. Jotaro could also stop his enemies in their tracks, and deal devastating blows to them. Overall, it was nearly impossible to get the better of Jotaro in combat.
Stand: Jotaro awakened his Stand around the time of DIO's revival. Star Platinum is an outrageously powerful Stand that is capable of overwhelming most Stands in a close-range fight. Jotaro is very creative with his Stand, using it to fire bullets, extending his fingers to increase range, etc. Initially, Star Platinum did not have the ability to stop time. It awakened this power during Jotaro's fight with DIO.
Josuke Higashikata
- Strengths: Strong Stand with a solid ability, endurance allows to withstand multiple attacks.
- Weaknesses: Gets angry easily, doesn't kill off foes.
Josuke Higashikata is one of the highlights of Diamond is Unbreakable. His Stand, Crazy Diamond, is a powerful close-range stand that allows him to alter the composition of an object or a person. While it may not be a destructive ability, it could be considered a homage to Jonathan Joestar, who was the kindest JoJo. Josuke resembles Jonathan in many ways, but the biggest resemblance is that they never went out of their way to kill someone.
Biggest Achievement: Josuke is not a violent person unless someone decides to mock his hair. In part 4, Kira Yoshikage was responsible for the deaths of many people. When Josuke fought against Kira, the former could have easily killed Kira, but he decided not to. Being able to stick to one's morals till the very end is indeed extremely impressive.
Best power: Josuke was not a ruthless individual, but that did not mean he wouldn't fight against sordid people. Josuke would often rely on Crazy Diamond to help him out. The Stand could alter the composition of an object and reshape it. It could even heal serious injuries
Stand: Crazy Diamond is an insanely strong close-range Stand that could cause problems for Star Platinum. It has the unique ability to alter the properties of a substance or a person. With this power, Josuke could trap his opponents and heal his allies.
Giorno Giovanna
- Strengths: Clever, overpowered Stand can revert any harmful action.
- Weaknesses: Not a great teammate, can let his goal make him blind.
One of DIO's illegitimate sons, Giorno is the protagonist of Golden Wind. He had a troubled childhood as his stepfather used to beat him. Giorno grew up with the sole purpose of changing the way the mafia operated. He was helped by many strong secondary characters such as Bruno Bucciarati, Narancia Ghirga, and Leone Abbacchio. Giorno was solely dedicated to accomplishing his goal. Armed with Gold Experience Requiem, Giorno managed to take down Diavolo, who was the main antagonist of Part 5.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has produced almost nothing but awesome OPs, but which opening songs are the anime's best?
Posts By Jake BuchalterBiggest Achievement: Giorno is one of the most determined individuals in the series. At an early age, Giorno made his mind about becoming a "Gang-Star." In order to achieve his dream, Giorno was ready to sacrifice himself. In addition to becoming the leader of Passione, his biggest achievement was beating Green Day, which was a ridiculously powerful Stand that was capable of wiping out an entire town on its own.
Best power: Giorno Giovanna was blessed with a ridiculously powerful Stand, and he managed to evolve it into Gold Experience Requiem. The same Stand was able to easily beat Diavolo, who was armed with the power to erase time and predict the future. Gold Experience Requiem allowed Giorno to levitate. The physical abilities of the Stand were also considerably enhanced. With such a potent Stand by his side, it is no wonder that Giorno is considered one of the strongest characters in the story.
Stand: On paper, Giorno had two Stands. The first was Gold Experience. It had decent physical power, but its main weapon was the creation of life. It can give life to non-living things, and this ability can be used in various ways. When Giorno's Stand was pierced with the Stand Arrow, it evolved into Gold Experience Requiem. The evolved version was physically stronger and also gained the ability to nullify any harmful actions to zero.
Jolyne Cujoh
- Strengths: Versatile Stand, can outfox her opponents, mentally resilient.
- Weaknesses: Sometimes overlooks the obvious danger.
Jolyne is the daughter of Jotaro, and she is the main protagonist of Stone Ocean. After being set up, Jolyne found herself inside the Green Dolphin Street Prison. Inside the prison, Jolyne made many new friends, who helped her to fight against Enrico Pucci, who is easily the Strongest character in Stone Ocean. Jolyne's character development progressed quite a bit when she was still inside the prison. She turned into a very reliable person, managing to control her temper.
Biggest Achievement: Jolyne is very different from her father in an awful lot of ways, but she does have the same fearlessness as him. After Jotaro sacrificed himself to protect Jolyne from the Whitesnake, she realized that her father had always been trying to protect his family. So, she made sure to get her hands on both of her father's discs.
Best power: Jolyne may not have the same level of power as her father, but that does not mean any person can walk over her. Jolyne had a certain level of ingenuity, which she demonstrated whenever she was using Stone Free. She could use her Stand in various ways to get the better of her opponents.
Stand: Jolyne's Stone Free is arguably the most versatile Stand in the series. While it is primarily a close-range Stand, it can unravel itself like a thread to increase the attacking range. Jolyne can use this thread to close any open wounds and restrain her opponents. When it's fully intact, Stone Free's punches become lethal.
Johnny Joestar
- Strengths: One of the best Stands in the series, strong-willed.
- Weaknesses: Often needs to rely on the help of others.
Considered by many fans to be the best JoJo, Johnny Joestar stars in Steel Ball Run. At the beginning of Part 7, Johnny forms a friendship with Gyro. The friendship teaches Johnny about a lot of things. For example, he learns to put his friend before his dream. However, Johnny was extremely motivated when it came to protecting his dream. He is one of the few Joestars who would not hesitate to kill another person.
Biggest Achievement: Johnny Joestar is arguably the most determined character in the series. Once he found out about the Saint's Corpse, he was ready to fight for all of the parts, and getting his hand on all of them was his highest priority, but when Gyro's life was in danger, he willingly gave up all the parts. This showed how far he had come as a character.
Best power: Johnny Joestar is tied with Giorno Giovanna for having the best Stand out of any JoJo protagonist. Johnny possessed Tusk, a multi-faceted Stand. Each act had a different power, giving Johnny the strength to fight an opponent as powerful as Funny Valentine.
Stand: Tusk has different forms, and each of them is great in its own right. However, Tusk Act 4 is by far the strongest version. Act 4's attacks are powered by the Golden Spin, which means they have infinite energy. A person touched by the attack is inflicted with infinite rotations. They will continue to rotate at a cellular level before disintegrating.
Josuke Higashikata
- Strengths: Overpowered stand that can bypass dimensional barriers, highly intelligent.
- Weaknesses: Impatient at times.
He is the main protagonist of Jojolion. Unlike his namesake from Part 4, Josuke does not hold back if he needs to kill someone. He is willing to go to any length to finish the job, which includes putting his own life on the line. Josuke is a very apt tactician, who has used his intelligence to outsmart his enemies on numerous occasions. As he is a fusion of two different people, Josuke's personality is very complex.
Biggest Achievement: Josuke's biggest issue was that he was unaware of his past. He had lost all of his memories, and it was extremely difficult for him to get them back and make peace with his identity. With no information about his past, Josuke still managed to fight numerous opponents.
Best power: Josuke's Stand is called Soft and Wet. At first glance, it seemed like nothing special, but with time, Josuke managed to learn how to use it properly. After a while, he took things to the next level by learning how to apply spin to the bubbles. This particular skill allowed Josuke to beat his nemesis, Tooru and his Stand, Wonder of U.
Stand: Soft & Wet is a versatile Stand that can be used in various ways. The user can overcome the opponent with regular physical attacks, or it can make use of its special abilities. Soft & Wet can create bubbles, which can be utilized to store objects. They also have explosive properties, so upon bursting they can deal heavy damage to the adversary. When Josuke learns about the true nature of the bubbles, he gains a new power.
Jodio Joestar
- Strengths: Clever, and able to handle pressure.
- Weaknesses: Can be reckless at times.
Jodio Joestar debuted in JOJOLands in 2023. It is the ninth installment in the franchise, with many believing that it is going to be the final part. Jodio Joestar is extremely young, but he has an intelligent head on his shoulders, allowing him to deal with tricky situations with little to no difficulty.
Since the manga is in its early stages, it is hard to figure out his combative abilities. However, it is safe to assume that Jodio is a smart fighter who can make the best of his environment. He is also a dependable person who takes care of his friends at all times.
Biggest Achievement: Jodio's greatest accomplishment was outfoxing Kishibe Rohan. The latter is renowned for his intellect, so when Jodio got the better of him, it was quite shocking to see. As the story goes on, he will indubitably achieve even greater things.
Best power: Despite being so young, Jodio has shown that he can compete with people who are much older. One of the main reasons behind his success is his Stand. He can use it expertly to take down enemies without drawing too much attention towards him.
Stand: Jodio's Stand is called November Rain. It is able to create rain over a limited range. Jodio is able to alter the weight of these droplets and make them destroy something as rigid as concrete.
