Qantas has welcomed the end to mandatory masks on domestic flights from September 9, saying it brings the country in-line with overseas COVID-19 regulations.

The decision from national cabinet, which also dropped COVID-19 isolation requirements from 7 to 5 days on Wednesday, comes months after the mask mandate was first eased for airports in June.
