The name Alaina came up when discussing names because it’s a feminine version of Alan, which is my husband’s middle name. We also liked that there’s plenty of nickname options with it – Laina, Lainey, Ali, etc.

We were in between Alaina and Anya. Anya means Grace which I loved, Alaina means a lot of beautiful things but what stood out was Precious. We named her Alaina with the middle name Grace. Precious means something valuable and worth taking care and protection of. And Grace is a gift from God. Alaina Grace, our precious gift from God

I knew I loved the name Alaina since Kindergarten. There were these beautiful twin girls named Alyssa & Alaina in my class I grew up with. The girls were always so kind. The names always just stuck with me and I associated the names with beautiful, kind girls. A cousin of mine had a daughter and named her Alyssa, and that left the name Alaina. So when I gave birth to my daughter, I named her Alaina, and gave her my middle name Jade. Alaina Jade

My husband picked Alaina early on. It took all 9 months for it to grow on me. The only reason I did not say no immediately was because we could use Lainey as a nickname and I thought that was so cute. At the hospital after she was born I held her, looked at her and called her Alaina, and it was perfect.
