Entry Times – Alcazaba and Gibralfaro Castle

One of the most common challenges visitors face in Málaga is not having up-to-date information about the opening hours of the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro Castle. As a result, many end up running out of time or arriving when the monuments are already closed.

To help you avoid this situation, we’ve gathered all the current opening times for 2025, along with some useful tips so you can plan your visit smoothly and make the most of your experience — no last-minute surprises.

General Information

The Alcazaba and the Gibralfaro Castle are open every day of the week.

Below you can find the opening schedule for the Alcazaba:

• Summer hours (1st April – 31st October):Open from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM(Last entry at 7:00 PM)

• Winter hours (1st November – 31st March):Open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM(Last entry at 5:00 PM)

Important: The last entry to both the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro is 1 hour before closing time. Also, keep in mind that visiting either monument takes at least 30 minutes, and ideally around 1.5 hours if you want to enjoy the experience without rushing.

Recommendations for Your Visit

The best way to explore both monuments is to visit the Alcazaba in the morning and the Gibralfaro Castle in the afternoon, or the other way around. This allows you to take a break in between and avoid doing both visits back-to-back, which can be quite tiring — especially during the hotter months.

To reach Gibralfaro Castle, you have two options:

• Walk up the hill — the hike takes around 35 minutes and offers spectacular panoramic views along the way.
• Take bus number 35 from Paseo del Parque or Alameda Principal.
