How many units are in wine?

It doesn’t matter what colour your wine is (white, red, rosé even sparkling) the important thing to know is how strong the wine is, and how much is in your glass.

Always check the label

Remember, the strength of your wine can vary a lot; anything from 5.5% ABV to as high as 14.5%, which works out to more than one unit difference in a single drink.

Wine and the Low Risk Guidelines

One medium-sized (175ml) glass of 13% Alcohol by Volume (ABV) wine contains 2.3 units of alcohol. So, drinking just six 175ml glasses of 13% wine, in a week, will take you to the limit of the low risk guidelines (14 units).
