THOUSANDS reported issues with Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistant this morning.

Although the service is now working fine, thousands complained their Alexa stopped working, having a knock-on impact on other smart gadgets.

Problems with the service began at around 7:00 a.m. GMT on Friday, according to online outage trackers.

An Amazon spokesperson said: “This morning we had an issue that impacted some Alexa customers’ ability to interact with the service. The Alexa service is now operating normally.”
