Home | Doves Mourning Dove, Bird Photo, Wild Birds Unlimited, WBU Birds > Doves Mourning Dove

Like all birds, Mourning Doves are unable to sweat, so to stay cool during hot weather, they pant just like a dog. Panting requires the doves to drink a great deal of water due the excessive loss of moisture to evaporation.

White-winged Dove, Bird Photo, Wild Birds Unlimited, WBU Birds > Doves White-winged Dove

They are one of the few species of birds that drink by sucking up their water instead of taking a bill full of water and letting it trickle down their throat. It can suck up its total daily requirement in less than 20 seconds.

Rock-Pigeon, Dove, Bird Photo, Wild Birds Unlimited, WBU Birds > Doves Rock Pigeon

Rock Pigeons (aka Rock Dove or pigeon) are believed to have been the first bird to be domesticated by man. Evidence suggests that people were raising them for food in the Middle East as early as 4500 B.C.

The Band-tailed Pigeon will either breed along the West Coast or in the Southwest and have been known to travel between locations.

No hulls on the seeds makes for tidier feeding, since there’s no debris on the ground to clean up. Pound for pound, our No-Mess Blend CC bird seed offers the best value because you do not pay for uneaten seed waste. The birds eat everything.

No-Mess Blend CC includes sunflower chips, hulled white millet, cracked corn and shelled peanuts to appeal to birds that eat at the feeder or on the ground.

Two perches Capacity: 3 qts Dimensions: 9½” x 11¾” x 13¼”

Imagine a wood-free bird feeder that actually looks like wood! Our EcoTough® Classic won’t crack, fade or rot. The Classic has curved ends so you can see birds feeding on both sides at the same time. Perch drains allow seed to drop out of the feeder for ground-feeding birds to eat, and angled perches let empty seed hulls be blown away by the wind. The removable screen bottom is treated with EcoClean® Antimicrobial Product Protection, providing 24/7 product protection.

The EcoTough Classic Feeder can be hung, but it does not come with the hanging wire to do so. We recommend that this feeder be pole mounted due to its weight (7 lbs. unfilled) and size. If a tree were to hold this feeder, it would have to be a very sturdy tree.

EcoTough feeders and houses are environmentally friendly, high quality products that are made from recycled plastic. These feeders and houses prevent used plastics from making their way into our landfills.

Make the most of your birdseed with an EcoTough® Catch-a-Seed Tray. For use with pole-mounted bird feeders, it prevents seed from falling to the ground. It keeps your yard nice and clean, and it serves as a second bird feeder. Perforated metal sheets in the bottom of the tray can be lifted out for easy cleaning. If you’re adding a Catch-a-Seed Tray to an APS setup, you must also purchase an APS Catch-a-Seed Tray Feeder Flange.
