When Allen Iverson signed a three-year, $8.9 million rookie contract with the Philadelphia 76ers in 1996, he earned $2.27 million in his first season. In 1999, he secured a new six-year extension worth $70.9 million, dramatically affecting his annual earnings. His salary increased to $9 million in year one and continued growing by approximately $1.1 million/year, reaching $14.6 million in 2004.

Before transferring to the Denver Nuggets in 2006, Iverson’s earnings had reached $97.3 million during his 10 seasons with the 76ers.

Allen earned $17.1 million and $19 million during his two seasons with the Nuggets. His salary increased yet again to $20.8 million during his season with the Detroit Pistons in 2008/09.

Allen Iverson finished his last four seasons in the NBA with the 76ers, taking a much smaller salary of just $650 thousand a year. His career earnings from salary and bonuses for his 17 NBA seasons amounted to $154.8 million.

Estimated Net Worth

Allen Iverson’s net worth is estimated at approximately $1 Million.

So what happened? Iverson’s approach to money was to spend it like water. He liked to live large, spending tens of thousands a month on clothing, jewelry, groceries, restaurants, and his family.

One of the most notable spending highlights is when Iverson landed from a flight and couldn’t remember where he parked his car. So, like any normal person would, he took a taxi to a nearby car dealership and bought another one. Fortunately for Allen Iverson, there is a silver lining to his situation…

Reebok Endorsement Deal

In 2001, Iverson signed a lifetime endorsement with Reebok. Allen would be paid $800,000 a year for life and $5-10 million a year for the rest of his life. Reebok set aside $32 million in a trust fund that Iverson couldn’t touch until his 55th birthday. Iverson will receive this money in June 2030; hopefully, he won’t spend it immediately.

Real Estate

In 2006, just before the 2008 financial crisis, Allen Iverson paid $2.19 million for a 5,985-square-foot, seven-bedroom mansion in Alpharetta, Georgia. In January 2018, he relisted the property for sale in a somewhat rundown condition, with an asking price of $1.14 million. Unable to sell, Iverson had to resort to several minor price reductions throughout the year, dropping it as low as $850,000 in November 2018.

He was finally able to rid himself of the property in January 2019, letting it go for just $725,000. Having owned the home for at least twelve years, the property taxes alone added up to over $300,000. After considering listing fees, he could have lost roughly $1.8 million on his initial investment.
