    The spelling Erin is for a girl! I knew a guy named this and he spelled it Ehren!!

    I'd go with Aron. It's the name of a character in John Steinbeck's East of Eden, who is born Aaron but drops the second A because it's too fancy. It's also the Scandinavian and Polish spelling of Aaron, and Elvis Presley's middle name.

    Or, what about Arran? It's a Scottish island (the Isle of ArranOpens a new window). It's a slightly different name, apparently pronounced "R-rin". So instead of "AIR-in", it's "ARE-in" or "AHR-in". First syllable sounds like car, bar, art, dark, etc.

    Aeron is a unisex Welsh name. In Welsh mythology Aeron was the god of war and death, and his name means "battle, slaughter" from old Celtic. Aeron is also a river in Wales (the River AeronOpens a new window) and the word aeron means "berry" in Welsh.

    I wouldn't change it. Changing the spelling from a legitimate one to one that is not will be incredibly frustrating and confusing for your child. I used a less common, but well known, tradtional varaitn for my older daughter's name, and I know that the more common variant is used a lot upon first hearing. Most people get it after once or twice, but, again, her spelling is actually a known variant. I think people will forever be trying to remember and failing on a variant on Aaron.

    Aaron is my husband's name. I have to be honest and say that no one spells it correctly. We always get the Erin spelling.

    I don't like any of the variations on spelling and prefer the Aaron spelling.

    "Erin" and "Aaron" are two different names with different etymologies and meanings.  They are even pronounced differently in other regions.

    Aaron looks great, why change it.
