A Quranic Name for Girls

Meaning: High Status, Exalted, Sublime and Superb

Alya is variant of Aliaa and has the exact same meaning and pronunciation (see below for full meaning). You can use either Alya or Aliaa, both are correct and acceptable. If you like this variant more and you'd like to pronounce it the way it is spelled (different than the original name), this is perfectly acceptable. Full Meaning of Alya

Alya is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means “uppermost”, “highest”, “most exalted”. It is derived from the AIN-L-A root which is used in many places of the Quran and is the root for the name Ali and Allah’s names of al-Ali and al-Muta`aali.

And recite in the Book the account of Idris. He was a man of truth, a Prophet; and We exalted him to a lofty position. (Quran 19:56-57)

[Thus it is that] the attribute of evil applies to all who do not believe in the life to come -whereas unto God applies the attribute of all that is most sublime: for He alone is almighty, truly wise! (Quran 16:60)
