• Level 3 Diploma in Ambulance Emergency & Urgent Care Support OR
• Level 3 Certificate in Ambulance Patient Care
• All Apprentices looking to become an ambulance driver will also need to achieve Level 3 in Ambulance Driving

• Full GB driving licence for the class of vehicle you are driving
• You will also need to take a fitness test and organisational interview

• Level 2 English and Maths if you haven’t already achieved this.
• Enhanced disclosure and Barring Service - you will need to do this before beginning your paramedic training. This is necessary because you will be dealing with adults and children and they will often be in a vulnerable position.
• Occupational Health screening. This is to make sure you are fit to carry out your paramedic job safely and effectively and you might be advised on some lifestyle changes if you are at risk of developing any illnesses as a result of your lifestyle.
• Because you will sometimes be doing frontline ambulance jobs, during your paramedic training, you will also be trained to drive safely at speed by doing an Emergency Response Ambulance Driving Course. When you have completed this, you will be awarded a Level 3 Certificate.

The Paramedic Degree Apprenticeship Standard is in the Health and Science Route of Apprenticeships. Paramedic training and achievement of the Standard will take around 36 months to complete.
