American Idol celebrates its 20th anniversary on its five consecutive years on ABC.

One of the favorite shows of the US audience returns on February 27.

Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Brian will return as judges of the 20th edition of the show. Ryan Seacrest will host American Idol.

"American Idol is still the original music show that genuinely creates superstars and continues to evolve to allow true artists to succeed in this unique business," said executive producer and showrunner Megan Wolflick.

"The chemistry and passion Katy, Luke, Lionel, and Ryan bring are second to none. We couldn't be more ecstatic that they are returning for this iconic 20th season in search of the freshest new talent that this nation has to offer."

What are the changes happening on American Idol?

Reports say Bobby Bones announced he won't return to the singing competition due to a conflict with another show. Bones spend four seasons as an in-house mentor.

"There's not anyone to replace Bobby per se, but this year we will be leaning into our amazing American Idol university alum to help our current Idols along the way in different stages of the competition," Wolfick said.

"So lots of those familiar faces, who America has grown to love will be seen throughout the season and we are very, very excited and our alum are excited to give back."

Singer Bebe Rexha announced on her social media her naming as the new in-house mentor. Rexha, 32 collaborated in the single "Take me home" with DJ Cash Cash, nominated for two Grammys.

American idol will change its golden ticket for platinum tickets. The decision came because platinum is the color of 20th anniversaries.

On February 27, American Idol will be back on the small screen. Airing on ABC at 8 pm ET.
