Introduction

Andy Cohen is an American radio and television talk show host, producer, and writer with an estimated net worth of $50 Million.

Quick Facts

  • Earns a reported $10 million per year from Watch What Happens
  • Previously earned $2 million per year from the show in 2016
  • Recently signed a new contract to extend the show through 2027

Early Life

Andy Cohen was born into the Jewish family of Lou Cohen and Evelyn. During his childhood, he remained part of ‘Camp Nebagamon for Boys’ in Lake Nebagamon. He studied at Clayton High School, graduating in 1986, and later attended Boston University, where he earned his BS in broadcast journalism.

Television Career

Andy began his career in television as an intern at CBS News and later spent 10 years there. Once he’d moved up the ranks, Cohen became the senior producer for The Early Show, 48 Hours, and CBS This Morning. He joined the Trio Network in 2000 and, four years later, became the vice president of Original Programming at Bravo when Bravo purchased the Trio Network. After his promotion, he became a regular on Today with Al Roker and Morning Joe and co-hosted Live! With Kelly and The View at various times.

Watch What Happens

With his long history in television, Andy Cohen has earned many guest appearances on talk shows and has been featured on HBO’s The Comeback and Saturday Night Live.

In 2009, Cohen began hosting his own late-night talk show, Watch What Happens Live, which later became a weeknight series. By 2016, the show had aired its 1000th episode, and in 2019, it celebrated ten years on the air with Chrissy Teigen and John Mayer as guests.

Reports suggest that Bravo, the show’s producers, pay Cohen an annual salary of $10 million. However, it’s not known precisely which years this figure relates to. We do know that in 2016, reports of his earnings were approximately $2 million per year. Thus, it’s clear to see that he’s experienced pay increases over time. Andy recently signed a new contract to extend his time on Watch What Happens through until the end of 2027.

Radio Andy

Andy Cohen entered the radio world in 2015, launching a new channel on SiriusXM called Radio Andy. The channel features several shows hosted by Cohen, including Andy Cohen’s Deep & Shallow and Andy Cohen Live.

Along with this, there are many shows on his channel hosted by other stars, such as Jim Parsons, Bevy Smith, Dan Rather, and Michelle Collins. His channel has also hosted many specials, including Andy and Anderson on the Road, Radio Andy Theater, and Love Connection Diaries.

With Anderson Cooper, Cohen went on a national tour that opened in Boston in 2015, and since then, their two-man show has continued touring the nation. The same year he started this tour, Cohen hosted a live edition of Hollywood Game Night and co-hosted New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly on NBC.

Recent Work

In 2016, Andy Cohen released his third memoir, Superficial: More Adventures From the Andy Cohen Diaries, which became another New York Times bestseller. The following year, Fox revived Love Connection with Cohen as the host, and the game show premiered in May and was renewed for a second season. Cohen then appeared in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and took over for Kathy Griffin as the co-host of the New Year’s Eve coverage on CNN.

In 2018, he appeared as himself alongside Luke Perry on the show Riverdale as a friend of the Lodge family. Cohen also made an appearance as a guest judge on the reality series RuPaul’s Drag Race on VH1 and won the Vito Russo Award.

Real Estate

In April 2019, Andy Cohen paid $5.4 million for a 0.56-acre oceanfront property in Amagansett, New York. This wasn’t a bad deal, considering that the previous owners had been looking for as much as $7.25 million in March 2018. They were forced to drop the price over time gradually, down to $6.25 million in May and $5.9 million in September. According to Zillow, the property is currently valued at $7.16 million.
