Anthony Rizzo was born on Tuesday, August 8, 1989, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Rizzo was 21 years old when he broke into the major leagues on June 9, 2011, with the San Diego Padres. Anthony Rizzo stats, height, weight, career totals, schools, positions, and more historical research are in the Baseball Almanac. Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"Anthony Rizzo wasn't just the final glove in a 108-year wait—he was the heartbeat of a championship team, a clubhouse captain, and a symbol of resilience. When he caught the final out of the 2016 World Series, he ended the longest championship drought in Major League Baseball history and helped deliver a title to a city that had waited generations. Over 14 seasons, Rizzo racked up 1,644 hits, 303 home runs, and three Gold Gloves/a>, anchoring first base with quiet excellence and clutch instincts. He was a three-time All-Star, a Silver Slugger, and the emotional center of a Cubs roster that redefined a franchise. But Rizzo's legacy goes far beyond the box score. He led with empathy, played with grit, and inspired with courage—from battling cancer to becoming one of the game's most respected voices. His career was a masterclass in heart, hustle, and humanity." - Baseball Almanac. 11 September 2025.

In 2015, Anthony Rizzo hit thirty-one home runs, his second 30-or-more home run season in Chicago, making him only the second left-handed Cub in franchise history to reach that plateau more than once. Do you know who was first? [Answer]

That same year, Anthony Rizzo was plunked a league leading thirty times, only the second player in Major League history ever beaned at least thirty times, who also had at least thirty home runs that same year. The first? Don Baylor, who had thirty-one home runs with the Boston Red Sox in 1986 and was hit by a pitch thirty-five times that same season.

Anthony Rizzo officially retired on September 10, 2025, ending his incredible career with a sterling reputation. His 242 home runs in a Cubs uniform, at the time of his retirement, was the sixth most (Top 25) in franchise history. Those with more were: Ryne Sandberg (282 HRs), Ron Santo (337 HRs), Billy Williams (392 HRs), Ernie Banks (512 HRs) and Sammy Sosa (545 HRs).
