Antonio Brown’s first NFL contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers was worth $1.3 million over three years. His earnings for the 2010 season were $393,000. In 2012, Brown negotiated a new five-year deal with the Steelers for $42 million, including an $8.5 million signing bonus.
Antonio Brown’s most expensive NFL contract came in 2017 when he signed a four-year extension with the Steelers. The contract was worth $68 million, and he received a $19 million signing bonus.
Before moving to the Oakland Raiders in 2019, Brown’s earnings at Pittsburgh had reached $69.9 million. His time at Oakland was short-lived; missed practices, on-field arguments, and other issues led to the Raiders fining Brown $215,000 and voiding his $30 million guarantee.
Brown signed a one-year $10.5 million contract with the New England Patriots but was released due to misconduct allegations. Before retiring, he would play one more season in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Antonio Brown’s lifetime NFL earnings reached $80.7 million, yet they could have been much closer to $120 million if he hadn’t gotten into so much trouble.
Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Filing
According to court records, Brown filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May 2024, owing nearly $3 million to eight creditors. As previously discussed, Brown earned over $80 million during his NFL career but claimed to have assets worth only $50,000 or less.
The most significant single claim against Brown in the bankruptcy was a $1.2 million court judgment he owed to truck driver Anton Tumanov for an assault and battery charge from January 2020. Brown had failed to appear at any of the hearings for the case, and therefore, the entire judgment was automatically granted to Tumanov during the bankruptcy proceedings.
In addition, Brown owes three six-figure court judgments, hundreds of thousands of dollars in credit card debt, unpaid commissions to KCB Marketing for deals they claim were worth $2 million, unpaid lawyer fees, $28,589 to Avanti Solutions for work completed during Brown’s appearance at the “Rolling Loud” festival in 2023, and even as little as $296 to a plumber in South Florida.
There has been no formal statement about the outcome of the bankruptcy filing or how he intends to pay his creditors back, but it will likely be resolved quickly, as $3 million is no small amount of money.
Real Estate
Pennsylvania Home
In June 2014, Antonio Brown paid $1.91 million for an 8,797-square-foot, five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania. The property, built in 2014, sits on 3 acres and features an outdoor basketball court. Brown listed the property for sale in October 2019, seeking $2.3 million. Unable to close a deal, he reduced the price multiple times, eventually letting it go for just $1.4 million in June 2021.
Florida Home
In February 2016, Brown paid $6.6 million for a 17,500-square-foot mansion in Hollywood, Florida. This twelve-bedroom property features three full-size tennis courts, an outdoor basketball court, and a children’s playground. There are also designated parking bays for a ridiculously large number of vehicles. It’s unknown whether this property was protected after his bankruptcy filing, as he also owns two properties in the state.
