Q: Any ideas how to open the new child proof cap? Pushing down and turning only results in loud clicks but not an opened product.

Yeah , don't buy it!!!!!! I don't care what anybody says about safety and child proofing, its absurdly difficult to open!!!! I had to use a pair of plyers and a hammer and that was just to get the outer cap off.... then I had to begin work on the inner cap. The product is small enough you can easily put it somewhere where a child can't get it, so why is this even necessary? When there actually has to be YouTube videos showing how to open it, then there's something wrong. Just don't buy it and they'll get the message. I tried by hand for 15 minutes and it wouldn’t budge, pliers got it on the first try. I get having a safety cap but when you have to use tools to open nasal spray it’s time to rethink the design. We returned one, took the other home and used pliers to break open the top. Cover the nozzle with shrink wrap so it won't dry out. Kills the whole child proof thing but makes it usable for adults. The government forces them to do this. They are doing the same thing for arthritis medicine. Next will be gas caps. I kept at it with a pliers until I had gotten the red outer cap off. Apparently, there is a clear plastic lining underneath which screws on and off easily and I use this to keep the spray covered. My husband, an engineer in our neighborhood, and I could not open it. As I have bought Afrin for 20 years, I bought a second bottle. The same issue existed. I’m buying a generic version of the product on Amazon and hope I can get that top off. This Afrin situation is ridiculous. Do you? | Report Well, while my wife was getting the pliers, I squeezed the cap at the two areas that looked like where you’d put your fingers (or the grips of the pliers) turned gently counter clockwise, and it came off easily. Do you? | Report There's a YouTube video that's a few years old now that recommends pushing down until the neck of the bottle is completely inverted and then twisting - might work for you, didn't work for me.
