She is a thrifter/reseller and records her (daily) trips to thrift stores/Goodwills/antique malls looking for things to resell on eBay.She always...ALWAYS...finds such amazing things at the thrift stores. Fenton...Royal Haeger....McCoy...rare artwork...Nippon...Italian pottery...Noritake...really cool stuff. She gets it sooooo cheap and sells it for so much more. She loads up her basket every...single...time with great stuff that she successfully sells for a big profit.Me? I find the glass jars that the Oui yogurt came in....I enjoy trolling through the thrift stores looking for hidden treasures...but I rarely find any.How is it that her Goodwills have all this awesomely sellable stuff and all the ones I go to are full of garbage?!?

She has a lot of knowledge. Her boyfriend and kids kind of bug me, but I like to watch her shop and find deals! Is Sue no longer on her show? I heard they were taking a break, whatever that means!

I do! Since I am trying to declutter and minimize my home, I get my collecting fix vicariousy through her. Did she and Sue have a falling out? I know Sue has her own channel now but I don't watch her.

I always find crap myself.... it amazes me how some people can find the name brands and all that. I could look in every single Goodwill/Arc/thrift store from my house to the other side of town and look at every single thing and still find ten zillion canning jars... and not a single name brand.

In the past I have had some really great finds, but since I don't go thrifting that often they aren't that frequent. None of my finds have been at Goodwill. The local ones (I'm not too far from you) are overpriced and just average at best with stock. It seems the best deals from Goodwill are from the 'bins', but we don't have one of those locally. It seems the stores in other states have better stuff. No idea why though. My best finds have been from local charity thrift stores and garage sales. However, the charity thrifts have for the most part gotten savvy and have really raised their prices. They are also selling things on eBay/Instagram, as well as doing live Facebook sales. The days of finding an authentic Hermes scarf for $4 are pretty much over around here!

I actually find more "good" stuff at the Family Thrift store. I've sold some of those finds on eBay. My best Goodwill find was a pair of Roseville cornucopia vases in Louisiana on the way home from Coushata. Those made up for my losses in the casino! lol...

I used to follow her but drifted away. I watched Sue's channel for a bit too.My favorite thrifters to follow are Laura and Selena of The Recycled Life and their independent channels, Laura Caldwell/Left Coast Revivals and Vintage Bombshell. They each have a specific aesthetic and the knowledge to inform their shopping. Laura prefers mid-century and boho (as Selena would say "brown and wooly") and Selena is ultra-feminine and romantic. She loves her some angel babies! They both have online shops and run online jewelry sales together. They both love turquoise and statement pieces, so definitely check them out if you like those styles. Also, they are local to me and I always wonder if I'll run into them, though thrifting went out the window for me due to the pandemic.

I watch and enjoy her videos. I just assumed she and Sue were being careful since Sue is older and probably higher risk. Also, Sue has had a bout with Bells Palsy. And I realize the camera microphone amplifies sound, but the way she bangs glass around just makes me cringe. The thrift stores in my area never have anything close to what she finds.

I actually found that the more affluent areas were the worse. Now I'm thinking it may have more to do with the relative age of the neighborhood. Areas with an older population may have more of the "old" stuff to donate. Families donates all the old, antique stuff they don't care about while cleaning out grannie's house? Newer areas with younger families have less "durable" stuff to donate? Hence the abundance of junk?

If you like CLL's finds, you might like The Old Curiosity Shop (Scott's) YouTube channel also. He concentrates mostly on items from the 1920s-1950s; I've learned quite a bit from him. I think he is in PA also. Maybe NJ or NY.If you want to watch someone who went full-bore into shopping for Ebay resale and who buys a wide variety of items, the Lavender Clothesline channel is a good one. Her resale basement looks like a mini warehouse. Also PA. Hmmm. And coincidentally, the next Recycled Life jewelry sale I mentioned previously is tomorrow! www.the-recycled-life.com/If anyone knows others to follow, especially non-clothing, mid-mod, please share!

Yes, I watch CLL every day. Have definitely learned a lot from her. I resell also but have a booth in a vendor mall (no eBay). I am definitely always on the prowl for treasures. My booth is some vintage, but mostly cool clothing, jewelry, and home decor. My thrift stores are shopped a lot harder, so I have to be more diligent, go more frequently, and be targeted. I have had some good luck. My problem is that much of what I bring home doesn't make it into the booth because I fall in love with it. Need to be better about that.I also love Selena and Laura. GREAT style. I try to pick up both vintage/romantic and mid-century/boho items, so I channel both of them. chendra you mean "naked cherub babies"! :D

My thrift store is mostly garbage. Lots and lots of fast fashion, event t-shirts, cub and boy scout uniform shirts, and old man suits from when grandpa died, rickety furniture that was cheap when it was new, and lots of cheap, mass produced glass and dinner ware. When my dad died and we moved mom into a much smaller place we ended up donating a ton of items to the thrift store. Some of it was nice stuff, but so much was just the ordinary stuff of life that she wasn't going to need anymore. Like the 12 place setting of nicer plates for Christmas, or the 15 mass produced wall art that, while nicely framed, were nothing special. It's all the same stuff everyone else is purging from their boomer parent's homes.Anything of real value either stayed with mom, or went with one of the kids.

I watch other people on occasion, but I enjoy her every single day. While she does find treasures, I love that she loves weird pieces, interesting art, and animal pieces that others would poo poo. Her cart isn't filled with stuff that is always worth a lot, but I think the fact that she puts out videos every single day and has 180K+ subscribers helps sell some of the more unusual pieces. You can go to her YouTube channel and find her eBay and see what things are going for currently. She found this small stuffed cat the other day and didn't know anything about it other than she liked it. It is currently at $35 and will probably sell for more than that. Don't remember for sure, but she paid maybe $5 for it. She's just fun to watch. It's like hanging out with a friend for 18-24 minutes a day.It doesn't hurt that they lease/rent a large store in PA that will house many of her treasures by the end of the year. She must being doing very well to have a space for almost a year before they have it up and running.

houstonsandy, I watch CLL. I don't enjoy her as much as I used to. One thing to remember when watching the YouTube videos is that most of them are heavily edited, and the more you go out looking the more often you will find something. The cost of living where she shops has something to do with it too. Things that she finds in the store are 50-70 less expensive than in my area. As far as the profit on Ebay, lots of her sales are from the people who watch her. There are some things that she's gotten outrageous money on that you can't sell for $2 in my area.

So, I think Sue called them on the bad mouthing. She has never specifically said why they aren't hanging out together.

chendra, I watch The Recycled Life. I used to enjoy it more before. They used to be more spontaneous and we'd see them finding more stuff. Now, it feels like they are making it more like a reality tv show, it's almost like it's too perfect sometimes. I know they do want to have a show so perhaps they're trying to edit it more in that style. They do find some wonderful things.

Have never heard of her. Just watch a few of her videos. I am surprised that she can make much profit on items from a Antique Mall. The vendors usually know the value of the items they are selling. I never go to the Goodwill. Their stuff usually sucks and is overpriced. But when I go, I am not looking for stuff to re-sell. I wouldn’t know what was valuable, when it comes to most antiques.

Much as I like watching thrifting videos, I don't have much time to spend doing so. Long meandering videos where people ramble on about Starbucks or their kids or a random thought they had the other day just serve to annoy me. I like to see the good stuff they find, weird things they run across, learn something, and especially in Laura and Selena's case, see the way they style their items. I think they're particularly good at that, since they have their own niches. I hope they don't start touting brass polish anytime soon.I used to follow someone who got so sponsorship and ad heavy that it was a real turn off. Trying to remember her name. I think once she filled up her new house with her finds, she had no reason to thrift anymore, since she wasn't a reseller.

What's your favorite, greatest, weirdest items?Oh gosh, that's tough because there are so many.Right now we have some cool, Derby/horse themed items since the Derby is being run here next week: Original art, a Lilly Pulitzer dress with a Grandstand print, some Triple Crown bobble heads (Affirmed and Seattle Slew), etc.I've been procuring interesting music boxes: A nativity scene in a decorative Faberge style egg (Silent Night), a clear acrylic baby grand piano (My Way), a vintage trolley car replica (I Left My Heart in San Francisco).Boho chic/Mid-century Modern is really in style right now, so I have unique brass pieces, interesting wicker and basket items, terrariums, some barware. And then I have some unique jewelry pieces. The cuff bracelets I find tend to sell well, as do the interesting handbags. I look for quality leather, or embroidered/beaded, or something to make them stand out. It's been so fun to source items and see what sells, what doesn't. I have had fails for sure. But mostly I feel like I have a good eye. The booth is really small (7' by 10') and I share the space with a partner, so I have to be very selective. Thanks for asking!!

MalleyCat AvatarAug 26, 2020 4:11:35 GMT MalleyCat said:Have never heard of her. CLL always says don't overlook Antique Malls/Vendor Malls. When I price my items for my booth, I always look up the value on eBay for solds. I then price my items between what I paid and what they are selling for on eBay. I could make more money on eBay, but I don't want to sell on eBay/store items/ship/deal with customers, etc. So I have my items in a booth. I rely on walk through traffic and try to catch the average shopper, along with someone who might be shopping for eBay. It's hard to get eBay prices in a mall. So her advice make sense, unless the items are very large or heavy where shipping doesn't make sense.

I used to watch her, before she got so big. I really enjoyed her and her trips with Sue. After awhile I saw a change in her personality and I quit watching her. I'm not a fan of her boyfriend. Her children are adorable though I got the feeling that they are not thrilled with being dragged along on their mother's thrifting trips. I watched Sue's channel too, but got busy with other stuff, etc... When I checked in on Sue I was sad to see her Bell's palsy. Sue is really smart about so many things, not just thrifting/antiquing/reselling. I've been watching her more lately. I'm not surprised to read that they've had a falling out.
