The Pokémon League

The Pokémon League building holds the traditional amenities, with a Pokémon Center and PC to the left, and a Poké Mart to the right. It's a good idea to stock up on items that restore health and status ailments for the gauntlet ahead.

When preparations are complete, speak to the Ace Trainer guarding the doorway in the room's center. He verifies that you've earned all eight Sinnoh League Badges before stepping aside, allowing you to enter the depths of the Pokémon League. Challengers must face the Elite Four and Champion in quick succession, with no outside help.

Elite Four

Elite Four (1): Aaron's room
Battle 1

The first member of the Elite Four is Aaron, a master of Bug-type Pokémon. Bug-type moves are super effective against Dark-, Grass-, and Psychic-type Pokémon, while Bug-type Pokémon are weak to Fire-, Flying-, and Rock-type moves.

Aaron leads with his Dustox, a Bug/Poison Pokémon. Double Team and Light Screen make it harder to hit while Toxic steadily drains the target's health. While Dustox acts more defensively, Beautifly is more offense-oriented. Each of its moves may lower the target's Special Defense; this pairs well with its higher Special Attack to keep up the pressure. His Vespiquen's Attack Order rallies its underlings to fight, and Defend Order boosts its already-high defenses. Power Gem lets it fight back against predators, so Fire- and Flying-type Pokémon, beware! Heracross has the highest physical Attack of his team, and has plenty of high-powered moves to provide coverage. Stone Edge inflicts serious damage to Fire- and Flying-type Pokémon, while Close Combat crushes Rock Pokémon. Aaron's ace Pokémon is Drapion, his only non-Bug Pokémon. As a Poison/Dark Pokémon, it is only vulnerable to Ground-type attacks. Avoid facing it with Ground-type Pokémon, however, or watch out for Ice Fang!

Elite Four (2): Bertha's room
Battle 2

The second member of the Elite Four is Bertha, a master of Ground-type Pokémon. Ground-type moves are super effective against Electric-, Fire-, Poison-, Rock-, and Steel-type Pokémon, while Ground-type Pokémon are weak to Grass-, Ice-, and Water-type moves.

Bertha leads with her Quagsire, a Water/Ground Pokémon. Protect and Double Team make it harder to hit, but the bigger problem is Sandstorm. This triggers a sandstorm that damages all Pokémon except Rock, Ground, and Steel types, and boosts the Special Defense of Rock Pokémon. Sudowoodo, a Rock-type Pokémon, hits hard with Earthquake and Hammer Arm. Despite its lower Special Defense, its Sturdy Ability prevents a one-hit knockout. Her Golem functions similarly to Sudowoodo, with both Earthquake and a strong Fighting-type attack. Its low Speed pairs well with Gyro Ball, dealing more damage to faster targets. Whiscash's Water- and Psychic-type attacks provide additional coverage, but like Quagsire, it is especially vulnerable to Grass moves. Her ace Pokémon is Hippowdon, which triggers a sandstorm on its arrival with its Sand Stream Ability. Curse boosts its own power while Crunch weakens the target's physical Defense, building on the power of Earthquake and Stone Edge to make Bertha's final Pokémon a serious threat. Don't hesitate to use super effective attacks before it can score a knockout!

Elite Four (3): Flint's room
Battle 3

The third member of the Elite Four is Flint, a master of Fire-type Pokémon. Fire-type moves are super effective against Bug-, Grass-, Ice-, and Steel-type Pokémon, while Fire-type Pokémon are weak to Ground-, Rock-, and Water-type moves.

Flint leads with his Rapidash. Sunny Day intensifies the sun's rays, boosting the power of all Fire moves and weakening all Water moves. In addition, SolarBeam may be used without charging first, letting Flint fight back against Ground-, Rock-, and Water-type Pokémon. His Steelix, a Steel/Ground Pokémon, can lower the target's physical Defense with Screech. Its own physical Defense is nearly impenetrable, so attack with special moves instead. Drifblim, a Ghost/Flying Pokémon, tends to use Will-O-Wisp to burn the foe. Ominous Wind may boost every stat by one stage, a benefit that can then be passed to a teammate with Baton Pass. Use moves that do not make contact to avoid triggering its Aftermath Ability. His Lopunny's Cute Charm Ability may infatuate female attackers when hit with a contact move. Like Steelix, it takes serious damage from Fighting-type attacks. Flint's ace Pokémon is Infernape, only the second Fire Pokémon on his team. Flare Blitz and Earthquake hit hard while Mach Punch lets it strike first. It is vulnerable to both Water- and Flying-type attacks, but ThunderPunch lets it retaliate against such Pokémon, so plan accordingly.

Elite Four (4): Lucian's room
Battle 4

The final member of the Elite Four is Lucian, a master of Psychic-type Pokémon. Psychic-type moves are super effective against Fighting- and Poison-type Pokémon, while Psychic-type Pokémon are weak to Bug-, Dark-, and Ghost-type moves.

Lucian leads with his Mr. Mime. Reflect and Light Screen bolsters the team's defenses, so attack with physical moves or special moves depending on which may be in effect. Girafarig's Shadow Ball lets it counter Ghost-type Pokémon. A Normal-type Pokémon, it is immune to Ghost attacks, so use Bug- or Dark-type moves against it instead. His Medicham is the team's only physical attacker. Drain Punch steals the target's health for itself, and lets it fight back against Dark-type Pokémon. Beware the power boost from its Pure Power Ability. Three of Alakazam's moves build on its high Special Attack by lowering the target's Special Defense. Use powerful physical moves to target Alakazam's low physical Defense. Lucian's ace Pokémon is Bronzong, a Steel/Psychic Pokémon with high defenses. Calm Mind boosts the damage output from Psychic, and Gyro Ball deals more damage against faster opponents. Its Levitate Ability protects it from Ground-type moves, so attack with physical Fire-, Ghost-, or Dark-type moves instead.

With the Elite Four defeated, you have earned the right to challenge the reigning Champion of the Sinnoh region. Be sure to make any preparations before entering the final room, as you will be drawn into battle almost immediately.

Champion's room

Champion

Inside the Champion's hall, you find Cynthia waiting for you. She asks how you have been, and thanks you for your help at Mt. Coronet. She can sense the power you learned from overcoming all previous challenges, and is excited to see it in battle. The stage is set for a legendary showdown! Her Pokémon are of many different types, and don't share one common weakness as the Elite Four's teams do. However, Grass-, Fire-, and Ice-type attacks will be the most useful. With such a varied team, be sure to switch out your Pokémon as needed to capitalize on her Pokémon's weaknesses. Use your best strategies and your strongest attacks to bring down the Champion!

With the battle concluded, Cynthia congratulates you on your impressive victory. She is glad to take part in the crowning of Sinnoh's new Champion, and instructs you to take the lift.

She catches up to you in the next room, a room lined with Pokémon statues and green lights in the floor. She explains that the room ahead is the Hall of Fame, but is interrupted by the arrival of Professor Rowan. Rowan compliments your latest battle, and says how it is only natural that he would come to witness the crowning achievement of a Trainer he enlisted in his Pokédex project. Cynthia then asks you to follow her, and for Rowan to join the two of you.

Hall of Fame

Cynthia leads both you and Professor Rowan into the Hall of Fame room, where all victorious Pokémon and thier Champions are honored. Once you set your Pokémon on the machine here, the details of both you and your party members are recorded. During the process, a shot of each Pokémon appears briefly on-screen. The screen fades to black, the game is saved, and the credits begin to roll.
