Applications engineering involves a manufacturer working with customers to understand their specific technical requirements and ensuring that its product meets them.

What is applications engineering?

Applications engineering forms a crucial link between a manufacturer like Renishaw and its many customers around the world. Applications engineers work directly with customers to understand their specific technical requirements and ensure that the manufacturer's product meets them.

In most cases applications engineers will be requesting adaptations and enhancements to their company's existing product technology; however, they might also initiate the design and development of a completely new product for a new market sector or application type.

In a role that is both customer-facing and technically demanding, an applications engineer will have in-depth understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes and have excellent communication skills.

Applications engineers at Renishaw are solving customer's technical problems in a very wide range of different industries. They support customers pre- and post- product sale to determine the engineering solutions that achieve the best improvements in quality and productivity.
