A passport serves as a travel document issued to Singapore citizens for the purpose of travelling abroad. You may apply for a passport online if:

  • It is your first time applying for a passport
  • Your passport is running out of pages
  • Your passport has expired, or is expiring in nine months or less
  • Your passport is lost or damaged

Important: Your application will be delayed if your photograph does not meet our requirements. We will notify you if your photo is rejected.

Please refer to Photo Guidelines for information on photo requirements before starting the application.

Documents Required

You will need the following documents to complete your passport application. Please have them ready before you apply:

  • A passport-sized, digital, colour photograph taken within the last three months

Apply Online Procedure

For Singapore Citizens residing in Singapore

Log in to our e-Service using your Singpass to complete the online application form.

Video guide on online passport application via MyICA

You can view the video guides in different languages (English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil) by clicking on the playlist menu located at the top of the video screen.

For Singapore Citizens Residing Overseas

Log in to our e-Service using your Singpass to complete the online application form, or submit the Singapore Passport Application Form (overseas) (PDF, 124KB) in person at a Singapore Overseas Mission.

Fees

A S$70 fee is payable if you apply online. A S$80 fee is payable for application submitted over counter at ICA Services Centre or at Singapore Overseas Mission.

If your passport is lost or damaged, you will need to pay the passport fee as stated above and the following non-refundable penalty fees for a replacement passport:

  • S$50 for the first replacement
  • S$100 for subsequent replacements

For online applications, payment can be made using either:

  • Visa or MasterCard credit/ debit card
  • American Express (AMEX) credit card
  • Internet direct debit (DBS/ POSB, OCBC, UOB and Standard Chartered Bank internet banking accounts in Singapore)
  • PayNow

From 1 January 2020, newborn Singapore Citizens will enjoy waiver of first passport application fee if:

  • Application is submitted on or before child's first birthday
  • The application is submitted via MyICA
Processing Time

Local

The processing time for a passport is around one to two weeks upon ICA's receipt of the application. The processing time may be up to four weeks if your photograph does not meet the requirements or if your application involves changes to your principal name and/ or surname.

You will be notified of the outcome by email. Please check your email.

Overseas

The processing time for a passport is around four to six weeks upon ICA’s receipt of the application, if you have submitted all the necessary documents. The processing time will be longer if your photograph does not meet the requirements.

You will be notified of the outcome by email. For all successful applications, the passport will be sent to the selected Singapore Overseas Mission.

Additional Information

Passport ValidityFrom 1 Oct 2021, Singapore passports issued for citizens aged 16 and above are valid for 10 years.For citizens below the age of 16, the passport validity is 5 years. For the 5-year passports, the remaining validity from the previous passport, up to a maximum of 9 months, may be carried over to the renewed passport.You may contact us via the enquiry form for enquiries relating to the Singapore passport application process.
