About us

Apprenticeship Support Australia - WA, offers support to WA businesses to successfully build local skills using apprenticeships and traineeships. With team members based in 15 locations across WA, our aim is to ensure all WA businesses get access to expert recruitment support, sign-ups, incentive and claims advice and mentoring services, no matter where they are in WA. ASA is the only specialist service provider across WA for women in male-dominated trades, First Nations Australian apprentices and for apprenticeships working towards clean energy occupations, in addition to our generalist services.

  Celebrating Women in Trades 🛠️ As we continue recognising International Women’s Day, we’re spotlighting plumbing apprentice Liz Leov, whose journey reflects this year’s theme: Balance the Scales. It’s about dignity, safety and fairness for everyone. Women are underrepresented in some industries – particularly those that have long been considered male-dominated, where women make up less than 25% of the workforce. Liz is one of the first WA TAFE students to be awarded the State Government’s Women in Trades Scholarship, helping remove financial barriers and open doors for more women to pursue careers in traditionally male‑dominated industries.   Fostering industry collaboration to champion the next generation of a skilled workforce in WA Recently the WA team was joined by our national team for a tour at Byrnecut, where the latest training facilities and capability development were showcased to the teams. It was a fantastic opportunity for us to connect and engage directly with our industry partners in the #resources sector.   🙌 Capping off our week with a recap of our recent Trade Collective Series sundowner event held in Perth! Thank you to Kristin LIM, CEO of Directions Workforce Solutions; Debra Arjoon, Heavy Diesel Mechanic at BHP; Leonie Knipe, Dealer Principal at Avon Valley Toyota; and Tina Thiel, Entry Level Programs Manager at Western Power, for joining us on the night as our panel speakers. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with the panelists, who offered valuable perspectives on opportunities, challenges, and best practices for fostering positive training experiences for both employers and apprentices, leading to genuine connections and meaningful conversations throughout the night. We were delighted to host our first Newman sundowner recently to foster a support network for apprentices and engage with local employers, offering practical tips on strengthening training relationships with their apprentices.   🙌 So proud to be part of the #apprenticeship journey of Sherree and her employer as they achieve a positive training outcome! Sherree Cahill, a fourth-year apprentice at Bruce Rock Engineering, is working towards a Certificate III in Automotive Manufacturing Technical Operations – Bus, Truck, and Trailer. ⚒️ ⚙️ Sherree is set to receive her nationally recognised qualification and embark on a career as a heavy vehicle body builder. She said the apprenticeship offered her a pathway to realise her career aspirations.   With 75% of jobs in the fastest-growing industries requiring STEM skills, Scitech’s Future Makers STEM Festivals focused on empowering young people for the jobs of tomorrow.          We had a blast hosting the third and final Future Makers STEM Festival in Geraldton last week.   🏫A new Collie training facility will complement the existing South Regional TAFE Collie Campus and provide dedicated support to help local workers transition into new career opportunities. The new training space is designed to meet the needs of the region's evolving industries, with a focus on the resources and infrastructure industry, which includes high-risk licences, machine tickets, and laboratory capabilities.
