This is the situation: 1) in December I activate a new ADSL2+ line (up to 20MB) and then bought a new router Archer D50 2) From February I'm starting to have some issues. Connection goes away randomly and in the router page (192.168.1.1) appear the message: "Disconnected. Please configure your DNS manually)". BUT: I configured primary and secondary DNS as settled by my ISP (Wind - Infostrada, Italy). Obviously I contacted many times the customer care of th ISP and they have done every time some check. Results: line is good, no problem on the line, no problems with filters. Cabinet is not far from the apartment (less then 1km). Good SNR(15.6) and Line attenuation (22) parameters in download. So because the ISP tell me it is a fault of my router I attached you the log hoping someone of you can really understand if it is true or if the issue is somewhere else. Last thing I modified few minutes ago is clear the DNS information (the router uses the one it wants). This action has been done during the period of the log: 2017-04-27 22:41:41 [5] Httpd: Clear log. 2017-04-27 23:02:24 [3] PPP: ppp0 User request 2017-04-27 23:02:24 [3] PPP: ppp0 LCP down 2017-04-27 23:02:24 [4] PPP: ppp0 LCP down 2017-04-27 23:02:25 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [LCP TermReq id=0x2 "User request"] 2017-04-27 23:02:25 [3] PPP: ppp0 User request 2017-04-27 23:02:25 [3] PPP: ppp0 User request 2017-04-27 23:02:25 [3] PPP: ppp0 User request 2017-04-27 23:02:25 [3] PPP: ppp0 User request 2017-04-27 23:02:25 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [LCP TermAck id=0x2] 2017-04-27 23:02:25 [3] PPP: ppp0 2017-04-27 23:02:25 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [PADI Host-Uniq(0x00001ab0)] 2017-04-27 23:02:25 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [PADO PeerMac(00-d0-f6-af-1e-c1)] 2017-04-27 23:02:25 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [PADR Host-Uniq(0x00001ab0)] 2017-04-27 23:02:25 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [PADS SessionID(0x0003)] 2017-04-27 23:02:25 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x1 ] 2017-04-27 23:02:25 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [LCP ConfAck id=0x1 ] 2017-04-27 23:02:27 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x1 ] 2017-04-27 23:02:27 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [LCP ConfAck id=0x1 ] 2017-04-27 23:02:28 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [LCP ConfReq id=0xe5 ] 2017-04-27 23:02:28 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [LCP ConfAck id=0xe5 ] 2017-04-27 23:02:28 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [LCP EchoReq id=0x0 magic=0x456c11f2] 2017-04-27 23:02:28 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [CHAP Challenge id=0x1 <80acecab5018bd0ccdd3c5b1c5663a9a599b4b928b6f760d8bba9d39863fe9 2017-04-27 23:02:28 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [CHAP Response id=0x1 <0aa37adbe164df972dca8f929606c5c0>, name = "benvenuto"] 2017-04-27 23:02:28 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [LCP EchoRep id=0x0 magic=0x140d479a] 2017-04-27 23:02:28 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [CHAP Success id=0x1 "CHAP authentication success"] 2017-04-27 23:02:28 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x1 ] 2017-04-27 23:02:28 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [IPCP ConfReq id=0xc3 ] 2017-04-27 23:02:28 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [IPCP ConfAck id=0xc3 ] 2017-04-27 23:02:28 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [IPCP ConfNak id=0x1 2017-04-27 23:02:28 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x2 2017-04-27 23:02:28 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [IPCP ConfAck id=0x2 2017-04-27 23:10:32 [3] PPP: ppp0 User request 2017-04-27 23:10:32 [3] PPP: ppp0 LCP down 2017-04-27 23:10:32 [4] PPP: ppp0 LCP down 2017-04-27 23:10:33 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [LCP TermReq id=0x2 "User request"] 2017-04-27 23:10:33 [3] PPP: ppp0 User request 2017-04-27 23:10:33 [3] PPP: ppp0 User request 2017-04-27 23:10:33 [3] PPP: ppp0 User request 2017-04-27 23:10:33 [3] PPP: ppp0 User request 2017-04-27 23:10:33 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [LCP TermAck id=0x2] 2017-04-27 23:10:33 [3] PPP: ppp0 2017-04-27 23:10:33 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [PADI Host-Uniq(0x00001e78)] 2017-04-27 23:10:33 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [PADO PeerMac(00-d0-f6-af-1e-c1)] 2017-04-27 23:10:33 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [PADR Host-Uniq(0x00001e78)] 2017-04-27 23:10:33 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [PADS SessionID(0x0004)] 2017-04-27 23:10:33 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x1 ] 2017-04-27 23:10:33 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [LCP ConfAck id=0x1 ] 2017-04-27 23:10:35 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x1 ] 2017-04-27 23:10:35 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [LCP ConfAck id=0x1 ] 2017-04-27 23:10:35 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [LCP ConfReq id=0x60 ] 2017-04-27 23:10:35 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [LCP ConfAck id=0x60 ] 2017-04-27 23:10:35 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [LCP EchoReq id=0x0 magic=0x79e69767] 2017-04-27 23:10:35 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [CHAP Challenge id=0x1 2017-04-27 23:10:35 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [CHAP Response id=0x1 , name = "benvenuto"] 2017-04-27 23:10:35 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [LCP EchoRep id=0x0 magic=0x53950969] 2017-04-27 23:10:36 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [CHAP Success id=0x1 "CHAP authentication success"] 2017-04-27 23:10:36 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x1 ] 2017-04-27 23:10:36 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [IPCP ConfReq id=0xda ] 2017-04-27 23:10:36 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [IPCP ConfAck id=0xda ] 2017-04-27 23:10:36 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [IPCP ConfNak id=0x1 2017-04-27 23:10:36 [6] PPP: ppp0 sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x2 2017-04-27 23:10:36 [6] PPP: ppp0 rcvd [IPCP ConfAck id=0x2 thank you all, francesco   0We appreciate your feedback. At the time (not the case anymore) my ISP seemed to support PPPoA without saying it. Once I switched from PPPoE to PPPoA it solved the issue. PPPoA with VC-Mux gives the least overhead anyway, so it's worth looking into, make sure to set the MTU to 1478 when using PPPoA with VC-MUX to take advantage over the lower overhead, this way you'll get 0 fragmentation.   0We appreciate your feedback.
